Question:

Was the best way to cook a fillet mignon broill or grill?

Answers:
I broil because it's simpler, but grilling (on a BBQ) works too.

I liked mine broiled but that is just me.....

Broil only @1500 degrees

I would grill it, then for a change...broil it!

by the way, broilling & grilling are exactly the same.

well its got dat bacon wrapped around it and its real tenda....threaten it is only what ye must do my nizzle...but how do ye get dat thang cooked just right? here is the secret my nizzle...get that grill hot hot...and have them filets room temp...throw on them filets and let go wide open on an open flame 2 mins and flip em ONCE only and for 3 more mis let that sukka get burned..ten remove them filets to the indirect side of the grill and cover it and drank a beer....or 2...when you just caint stand it no more ..pull off them filets and eat a baked tater and texas toast with it...chow amigo! good eats

Eh, it's a matter of taste I personally don't care for filet, it's too lean (no fat = no flavor), but when I do eat it I like it pan seared. And he's right, broiling and grilling are the same thing, except for the grill marks.

Use a gas grill. Get some hickory wood chips, and put them in a cast iron smoker, or else loosely wrap the wood chips in aluminum foil. Wait until the wood chips are smoking, then throw the filet mignon onto the grill. Watch for flare ups, and keep a glass of water nearby to extinguish any flames. While you are at it, you might want to baste some Portobello mushrooms with butter and throw them onto the grill as well. Don't keep turning the filet mignon on the grill, it is one of the most common mistakes. Put it onto the grill, wait about 5 minutes, then flip the steaks. Wait another 6 minutes, then cut into one of the steaks to check to see that it is done to your preference.

this all depends on what you are looking for in taste.grilling is better because you get a smokey taste from the grill

i always grill steaks. about 8 min per side for medium/pink on a medium hot gas weber grill.

i never really broil anything, unless I am out of gas for the grill.

Seared at high heat in a cast iron skillet or grill pan is best.

I am not convinced that broiling and grilling produce the same effect. I do not think a conventional kitchen oven can reach the high temperatures of burning charcoal.
