What is Vermicelli (semiya) Made up of ?!

Question:

What is Vermicelli (semiya) Made up of ?

I want to know how vermicelli is made. Is it made of Rava Atta, or Sooji or Wheat atta or Maida (flour). What all goes into making it. Can one get the "nest like hair" strands from a home hand held extruder . ANYONE PLEASE

Answers:
Vermicelli is made out of maida that is ground from a very hard wheat. It is simply maida, water, and a little salt. I think it would be difficult to make at home because its so fine, especially through an extruder. But if you have the equipment, I don't see why you shouldn't try. Best of luck to you!

Vermicelli (Italian: ver-mih-CHEL-lee, lit. “little worms”) is a type of pasta, round in section and somewhat thinner than spaghetti. Vermicelloni (ver-mih-chel-OH-nee, “thick vermicelli”) is less common, and about the same size as fedelini (also hard to find). Both are thinner than spaghettini (“thin spaghetti”).

"Fideos" in Spanish..... really thin pasta sometime sold in the shape of a nest.
Everyone know that vermicelli means small worms in Italian and no so do you!
PS - seems tough to make at home unless you have the correct plates for your extruder.
Buon appetito!
