Hi, can you give me some recipes for a typical English lunch/dinner?
Thank you very much

Do you mean "English" or "British"?
Anyhoo.....
Traditional English foods revolve around the traditional way of life. Pork played a huge part in English life, for example, as most families had a family pig and it was slaughtered once a year. There is a traditional English recipe for just about every bit of a pig from head to toe - literally! The reason for the pig's popularity in England was that it ate most of the kitchen scraps or could root around orchards - hence apple sauce being a popular accompaniment.
As the average temperature (especially in winter) was quite low, growing seasons were quite short in comparison to the warmer climes of Europe. So a lot of foods also had to provide bulk. This is why thing like Yorkshire Pudding and suet pastries came in to being.
For an English dinner, assuming you only want to feed only a few people, then pork chops braised in cider with leeks is quite nice. You could even dice the pork and put a savoury crumble on top if you wanted (savoury crumble is flour and butter rubbed together to form breadcrumbs with herbs and seasoning).
I would accompany this with roast of mashed potato and some seasonal greens.
The Welsh and the Irish (but bear in mind that not all of Ireland comes under the term "British") are justly famous for their Lamb and Mutton. Very little can beat top quality lamb or mutton from either country and I prefer it without any added flavour. However, classic flavours to accompany lamb and mutton are mint, rosemary and garlic.
I enjoy a butterflied leg of lamb grilled on the BBQ served with rocket on Ciabatta.
Finally to my native Scotland where beef is one of the most famous meats - specifically Aberdeen Angus. I am of the "wipe its ar$e and breath on it" persuasion and firmly believe that anyone who wants "well done" steak should be politely shown to the nearest fast food eatery! Each to their own, however.
For some reason people try to add even more Scottishness to steaks and give it a whiskey cream sauce or haggis topping. Both unnecessary in my view. I enjoy steak with chips, mushrooms and battered onion rings.
The whole of coastal UK has a huge fish traditional too. Many areas are famous for smoked fish but the traditional fishing towns also have fabulous recipes for Cod, Haddock and Sole.
The thing about British cooking is that there is a huge wealth of really good food out there and the above is not even a scratch on the surface.
Finally, if you want to go the whole hog (forgive the pun….it’s coming….) the get 100 people and do a suckling pig :)
Enjoy :)
