That stuff inthe middle of cake..?!
That stuff inthe middle of cake..?
No not icing.. But that fruit filling that is sometimes in between cake layers. How do you mkae that stuff??
Answers:
the easy way to do it- buy a really good jam or marmelde that you like, and cook it down a little on the stove in the saucepan. Mkae sure you stand there and stir constantly, and remember, it will thicken up after it cools, so don't go too far!!, then make a dam of icing around the edge of the cake layer you want to put it on, and put in the jam when cooled. That's what they taught me at cake decorating class- and my family thinks I've slaved over the filling for hours. LOL!!
the easiest and most simple way to that is just use jam. many cakes are made with apricot or peach jam filing. yummy!
Jar of jam.
My Mom sometimes used jams or jellies to hold two cakes together.
Besides jam you can use pudding or pie filling such as cherry or blueberry and alot of stores carry items like lemon curd. The name sounds yucky but it is a thick creamy lemon sauce..Big chain store like Cost-co or Smart and Final carry fillings in a wide variety of flavors. Strawberry, blueberry, pineapple, rsapberry and bavarian cream for baked goods
