For how long can I fry up red Tomatoes?
Hi, I just get red tomatoes where I'm at (a bit of yellow and green tinge at times)
Well I like a fried tomato and cheese sandwich.
So I heat up a non stick skillet for about 20 secs, add 2 teaspoons of oil and let it warm for half a minute in the skillet and then add a couple of chopped up tomatoes (one tomato per sandwich.)
For how long ought the tomatoes be fried? 3 minutes or 2. I'm currently doing it at 3 for now. (I May add dried basil if i find it.)

Myself I wouldn't "chop" the toms, (sliced 1/4 inch), you don't have enough surface to heat ratio to release the sugars, any more then one minute a side will start to break down the connective content. Hot and fast with a little lemon juice, S&P
really it depends on how crunchy you like them, they can be eaten raw, so there's no bad answer, it's personal taste...
I like mine about 30 seconds. Just heats them.
Uh, cook them until they are at the point you like them to be. Some might like a bit of crunch, some not so much. That is YOUR choice.
As to basil; certainly you may add it, if YOU want to.
Cooking is all about how you like your food to taste, very subjective.
If your talking about a grilled cheese with a tomato slice on it, you don't have to fry the tomato at all just put it between two slices of cheese and buttered bread of course and fry the sandwich how you would normally!! This is one of my favorites!!
Good Luck!!!
depends on how you like them...always pit them befor you fry...don't ask why...depends on the color, texture, and taste you want it to be...you like extra flavoreful...45 sec...nice and toasty...55 sec...just watch the the tomatoes carefully for what you want....and i'm not an expert...i just watch lots of Food Network...
