How to frost a cup cake?!

Question:

How to frost a cup cake?

I want to make some cup cakes for memorial day but I want to know how to frost them to make them look "pretty". I make my own frosting but is there a tool to use to make it go on and look professional?

You can use a piping bag if you have one or use a plastic bag and cut a very small hole in the corner. Martha Stewart usually makes an outline and then fills in the middle.

Get a pipping bag with different tips. You can make stars on the top....very cute.

But if you don't have a piping bag, you can use a zip-lock sandwich bag with one corner snipped. It works great and there's no clean-up!

Good luck-

If you mean instead of a butter knife, there are things called offset spatulas that are basically bent butter knives with handles that will help you frost neatly without sticking your knuckles in them. Also there is a triangular shaped tool with three different sides to make three different textures on the top. one is smooth, one zigzagged, and the other is wavy. They all work easily and can be found at walmart or any local craft store like Michael's or hobby lobby on the aisle with all the wedding cakes stuff!

i don't think there are any special tools to frost it but maybe to make special designs on it. Good luck! I am sure they will turn out great ^^

The easiest way to frost and make it look great is to do all your decorating with a piping bag, lots of tips and different colors of frosting. try just several different stars on each cake in different colors. You can also add decorative spikes, (like from a party store) its aesy to make things look festive and fun and the stars are sooo easy practice on parchment or wax paper first. most of all have fun with it!
