What to make for breakfast for camping?!
What to make for breakfast for camping?
We are going camping this weekend and I am looking for breakfast ideas. We want something warm and hearty but something that does not dirty a lot of dishes or take a lot of time to prepare. Is there anything we can make the day before and reheat the next day. We are not looking for yogurt or cereal.
Thanks for your suggestions.
Answers:
Pan sausage, egg, anc cheese rolled up in a soft flour tortilla.
You can do the sausage and eggsin the same skillet. Once filled and rolled up, warm up on the outside in teh same skillet.
Make eggs and bacon the night before and store in tupperware. Reheat over the fire and make toast near the fire.
Hi,
Try boil in the bag kippers, with sweet corn or peas and toast, if you use a proper camping grill you can cook it all on one flame. Put the toast underneath and the kippers (or makerel) and the veg in the same pan on top.
Failing that order a buyout from the local takeaway using your mobile phone......
Happy Camping
Campfire Breakfast Sandwich
"Make an egg breakfast sandwich over the campfire with your Hobo/Sandwich/Mountain Pie toaster."
INGREDIENTS
2 tablespoons butter
2 slices bread
1 egg
1 slice Cheddar cheese
DIRECTIONS
Place a Hobo Pie toaster in the hot coals of a campfire to preheat for a few minutes.
Butter both slices of bread, then place one slice, butter-side down into the toaster. Crack the egg onto the bread, and break the yolk. Top with a slice of cheese and the second slice of bread, butter-side up.
Close the toaster, and place into the coals of the fire. Cook for several minutes, turning frequently, until the bread has browned nicely on both sides.
Pancakes and bacon.
We always take pancake mix. You can get bottles of Bisquick that is already prepared and all you need to do is add water. We just heat a griddle over the fire and pour the batter onto it. If you don't feel like messing with syrup (which I usually don't) you can instead top it with peanut butter or bring a can of whipped cream with and add fresh fruit on top.
Eggs. Yum yum!
You could do eggs and bacon or ham and put them in tortillas and make breakfast taco type things. You can buy the egg stuff that's already beaten up and in a milk carton looking thing. You could get the bacon that's already cooked that you just warm up. That's what we do when we go camping and want to cook breakfast. That way we only dirty one or two pots or pans. You just throw some shredded cheese and maybe some salsa on there and you are good to go!!!!!
Here's an idea, the name doesn't sound great, but the meal sounds yummy!
ALUMINUM EGGS
Sausage
Egg
Hash brown potatoes
Salt, pepper and spices to taste
Place potatoes, scrambled egg (doesn't need to be cooked) sausage patty and spices in foil. Wrap securely. Place on coals for 15 minutes.
We always make SALSA EGGS when we're camping.
Scrambled eggs, add a small jar of salsa, sprinkle with cheese, put it in a tortilla, and yer good to go.
No other seasonings needed.
Camping Is My Favorite!! Fix your ham-Bacon-sausage the day before,Then the next morning open a can of biscuit ( spray your pan ) and cook them until browned on both sides .Eat them like biscuits or pancakes with syrup, Through alittle butter in the same pan and scramble up some eggs.... Have a Great Time and Don't Forget The Bug Spray!!!!
There are a ton of egg caseroles that you can make, I would suggest that you don't even bother though. I camp every Memorial Day weekednd with my kids. They are not worried about breakfast. I buy larger precooked breakfast sausages and let them put them over the fire like franks. They dip they in syryp but that's them.
Wow! You hit the jackpot! I've got hundred's of recipes. I would be more than glad to help you out. Tell me if you have a Tilia bag sealer, and/or a Dutch oven and what you want to eat. I can tell you how to fix just about anything from a one pot cowboy meal to, well anything you can think of. Don't forget the cowboy coffee. Either email me or add it to your comments. I will respond.
A full english needs just 1 frying pan (skillet)
Bacon, eggs, sausage, black pudding, tomatoes mushrooms.
Tip it on to the plates and that should keep you going for most of the day.
If you hate washing up, take good quality paper plates and chuck them .
eggs on a pan over open fire with turkey or maple sausage
egg omelet with cheese
Coffee (w/ donuts or honey buns).
Have a great time;)
Good luck!
eggs and bacon.
I will suggest French toast..! Fancy !
Easy to store and pack as well as having sandwiches at lunch,, and garlic (Ranch style) bread at dinner.
Don't forget the honey and powdered sugar,, cinnamon &brown sugar mix .
Hash browns (fresh grated potatoes at the griddle) and scrambled eggs, coffee/tea or champagne.
Milk, chocolate or eggnog if you have kids.
Make it special for them..!
(you can foil wrap some spuds (par boil ahead) and season with butter and herbs and have baked potato at dinner)
Here is what I've always done . . .
A bag of O'Brien Potatoes from Ore Ida (they already have the onions and peppers in them)
Jimmy Dean Sausage - I always go for the Hot but just pick whichever you like
Eggs
Cheddar Cheese
Tortillas
You can do this over an open fire or on a camp stove.
Heat a little bit of oil in your iron skillet (a MUST HAVE for camping) and add your potatoes. Now remember, just a little oil because your sausage will be added in a little while. Once the potatoes are a little bit cooked (about half way) add your sausage and cook with the potatoes. Make sure to break it up while it cooks. After the sausage is brown, add your eggs ( I usually mix them in a bowl first with a little milk, salt and pepper). Just keep stirring and folding until all done. Sprinkle the cheese over the top.
When you start the eggs, wrap however many tortillas in foil and just lay there to warm. Make sure you turn them at least once or you will have one very burned one.
Scoop the egg, sausage and potato into a tortilla, add hot sauce and enjoy.
Best served with coffee percolated over a fire!
What I always made was eggs mixed with dried onions, green peppers, etc. I would also make hash brown potatoes using a little pam spray. For bread I would always use bagels. They keep much better than regular sliced bread and they can be used for sandwiches or snacking. One last thing, before my trip I would mix some salt and pepper together and put it in a small container. It works great and can be used for all your food. Enjoy
i allways make little veggie pizzas, they wont get bad and you can eat them cold or reheat them next time.
