Do you do anything to chicken before you barbeque it?!

Question:

Do you do anything to chicken before you barbeque it?

Answers:
Put it a pot and cover with water. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and cover. Simmer for 20 minutes. Remove from the boiling liquid, and BBQ. It comes out moister this way.

kill it

Generally I rub it with some olive oil and BBQ seasoning, then let it hang out awhile before grilling

I like to boil it, so that once it gets on the Bar-b-que it is fully cooked, and that it will cook quicker and I won't be curious if it is done. Or I 'defrost' it in the microwave which sorta cooks it a little.
Putting seasoning or bar-b-que sauce on it tastes yummy! :)

You first have to let the chicken get up to room tempreture so when it hits the grill it will cook evenly. you can do many things before grilling if its a whole chicken you can do a spice rub and if its brests you can marinate them over night if you want. but keeping it simple is always good; salt, pepper, oragno, and a little bit of heat and it will taste great
and its also good to wipe the grill down with oil beforehand just to make sure things dont stick.

cut it into pieces and marinate the night before in a bottle of Italian dressing and and a bottle of BBQ sauce. Adjust how much you use to the amount of chicken your cooking, cover the chicken liberally and flip at least once while marinateing.mix them together good before pouring over the chicken

I use a couple of different marinade recipes for grilled chicken, each left for at least a couple of hours (or overnight) before cooking. Combine all the ingredients in a large ziploc bag, then add the chicken and "squish" the bag around to coat the chicken with marinade.

"Universal" Savory Grill (leftovers can be used for almost any other chicken recipe) - olive oil, cracked black pepper, a little rubbed dried thyme, crushed garlic, sliced onion, and sea salt.

Spicy Italian - olive oil, cracked black pepper, lots of crushed garlic, sea salt, bruised fresh rosemary sprigs, a splash of balsamic vinegar, crushed red pepper, fresh lemon juice, and twists of lemon peel.

Sweet Sesame Asian - canola oil, a dash of sesame oil, sesame seeds, chopped green onion, minced ginger, soy sauce, rice vinegar, and brown sugar.

Southeast Asian - canola oil, fish sauce (nam pla), crushed garlic, crushed chopped lemongrass, chopped fresh cilantro, sliced fresh jalapeno, tamarind paste (or rice vinegar), and brown sugar.

Classic BBQ Grill - canola oil, sliced onion, molasses, crushed garlic, paprika, and a small amount of dill seed. This is a good base marinade that works well when you plan to baste with barbeque sauce before serving.

You could marinate it before it goes on the grill. Sometimes I'll par boil it before it goes on also.

First I wash the chicken with salt to get rid of the slime, then I put it in a large bowl. In another bowl I combined 2 cups Vinegar and 1 cup Soy Sauce, 1 onion chopped up, 1 clove of garlic smashed or grind, and black pepper, mix them all up and pour it over the the chicken. Mix chicken with the sauce and cover it and let sit over night in fridge, ready for BBQ the next day.

par boil the chicken so that you don't have to over cook it.it stays moist.
