Is it okay to line the floor of a gas oven with foil to keep it clean?!

Question:

Is it okay to line the floor of a gas oven with foil to keep it clean?

I've heard that this works, but I just wanted to make sure that it wouldn't melt. My oven is a GE XL44, if that makes a difference. Thanks.

Answers:
Foil works... just make sure you don't block any of the vent holes.

i wouldn't recommend it because if have seen foil catch on fire before, there are non stick oven cleaners that will prevent food from sticking to your oven

Yes its safe foil won't melt. Just don't cover up any holes on the bottom of the oven. Isn't your oven a self cleaner. Mine is and it cleans up good as new. Put a sheet pan under dishes that tend to overflow.

I HAVE A GAS OVEN AND I ALWAYS LINE IT WORKS GREAT JUST DON'T COVER THE HOLES....

Yes it is ok because foil will not melt in a temp that a standard oven can reach

yes it works i have some in mine now its much easier to keep clean that way if you have a spill you just change the foil but don't cover the holes
