What are good things to go with hot-dogs and brats for dinner.entries?!

Question:

What are good things to go with hot-dogs and brats for dinner.entries?

I am grilling but not sure what compliments them as side dishes.

Answers:
As hot dogs/brats tend to be high in fat and sodium, I would go for something fibrous and on the sweet side. A good dish of baked beans that are not too salty would be great, as well as barbecue beans. Also, some good sweet corn, whether it is fresh off the cob or high quality frozen. Don't forget something crunchy, like cut veggies with a good (low fat) ranch style dip or better yet, a thick salsa or guacamole.
If possible, serve the dogs on whole or cracked wheat buns as well.
Studies show that when eating high fat foods, veggies not only help digest it, but help reduce the immediate damage that the high fat content does to the arteries. I'm not trying to scare you here. I love food, both cooking and eating it, and I cook for a living. I don't believe in being afraid of food and a dog once in a while is fun, if it's a good one. I just think we can balance what we eat to make it healthier.
We are what we eat. Eating smart can be good and can be fun, too!

french fries,chips,macaroni salad etc.

you can bake some french fries in the oven, Ore-ida has the best for that. You can do baked potatoes on the grill. Corn on the cob, boil or wrap in foil (leave husk on to retain moisture), you can create a foil pouch and put onions, mushrooms, green peppers, red peppers, butter ,salt and pepper and close and allow to slowly cook on grill. Grab some deli coleslaw. Cook some baked beans on the stove.

Baked Potato is always good. Baked beans, corn on the cob, Mixed veggies wrapped in tin foil cooked on the grill with butter is way good! Good luck..... Dont forget the onions....

potato chips, baked beans, potato salad, sauerkraut, mac & cheese

corn on the cobb/corn, baked beans, fresh fruit, vegi skewers, potato salad, beer....

For the brats, grill some bell peppers and onions with your favorite seasonings in foil. For the dogs, try baked beans (you can open the can and plop it right on he grill). Yum!

You could have fries, green beans, mashed patatoes, rolls. Whenever I have a cookout, those are some of the things I put with it

I like to serve them with sweet and sour red cabbage and some form of potatoes, such as potato pancakes or German potato salad. Saute the cabbage in a little oil, add onion, then a diced apple. Add salt and pepper and a splash of vinegar, cover and simmer a while. If too tart, add a bit of Splenda or sugar. For the potato pancakes, grate potatoes, mix with egg, a little flour, salt, pepper and grated onion, mix well and fry in vegetable oil until crispy on both sides. Yum!

garden salad, potato chips or fries, potato salad, fruit salad, apples and orange slices

If you want something that's easy & tastes great, try some homemade home fries..sliced potatos w/green onion and green pepper in skillet with wesson oil until really crispy and a can of cream corn or stouffers corn soufle'. That's a German tradition..or you could saute tomatos & red pepper & onions and serve with pasta.

Bratwurst and hot dogs are typically served with Sauerkraut, Cole Slaw, or any other sweet/sour kind of salad, German Potato Salad, American Potato Salad, Potato Chips, baked beans, or macaroni and cheese.

Corn on the cob, or homemade potato salad, with a big green salad with cucumbers, radishes, and tomatoes.

I guess french fries go good with hotdogs.
Or if you want, maybe some rice but no bun on the hot dog.
I don`t know what brats are..but maybe they can be eaten with mashed potatoes?
Haha, well corn on the cob will probably go good with bothh :]
