Answers:
Simmer eggs for 10 minutes start with eggs in cold water in pot. Do not boil eggs will crack. Cold running water on eggs, peel set aside.
Mince small onion, celery, chop eggs, add mayonaise. Season to taste. Chill and serve.
boil eggs between 8-10 minutes
then cut them into small pieces, put some mayo dressing like ranch or thousand island
put in some tomatoes, celery, croutons, lettuce if you like
Egg and Ham Salad:
15 min 15 min prep
6 servings
6 hardboiled egg, diced
1 cup diced cooked ham
6 sweet gherkins, sliced
1 cup chopped celery
10 stuffed olives, chopped
French dressing
1. Combine all ingredients, adding enough french dressing to moisten.
2. Chill thouroughly and serve on salad greens.
First of all... make sure you warm the eggs under hot water before you put them into the boiling water. This will stop them from cracking. I would say cook for about 15 minutes for about 8 of them.
As for the salad. Mix a big tablespoon of french mustard with about 2 big tablespoons of mayo. In the salad goes the eggs, with some chopped red capsicum, corn and cucumber.
Quantity is not really important. So long as it looks right. You can't really go wrong. Add salt and pepper.
to avoid the eggs cracking put cool water and the eggs in a pot and let bring to boil..... you dont want to put the eggs in boiling water... that way they wont crack..... 10 minutes after the are boiling then let cool .. add you mayo... depending on how many eggs you have a tad bit of mustard ( not to much or it will taste horrible ) and the add some celery salt or some regular salt.. good luck ( now i want some) LOL!!!
Don't throw the eggs in boiling water. Start with cold water in the pot with the eggs and they will not crack. Don't turn your heat all the way up. Go Med-High heat or a 7 if you have a numerical dial. You can wait about 5 minutes till the water is really hot and then cut the dial all the way up. Once it is boiling let it go for about 10 minutes. Peel the eggs under running cold water while they are still hot and the shells will pretty much slip right off.
Now as far as the egg salad part goes... I have never made it but I have made deviled eggs and it could not be that much different so here is my suggestion.
Cut up your eggs, add in some mayo and a dab of mustard, a spoon full of relish, onions and/or green bell pepper. Maybe some paprika for extra color. I like to add a little ranch dressing in there too but that is just my preference.
Take about 4 hard boiled eggs, add a couple tablespoons of mayo, alittle dijon mustard(don't overdue it, a couple teaspoons, some minced raw onion and celery. As far as boiling the eggs, take the 4 eggs and place them in a pot of cold water and then bring them to a boil slowly. When they have hardened, dump the boiling water out and cover the eggs with cold water and peal them immediately. Make sure you chopped the eggs up before you mix them with the other stuff
First you boil your eggs for the full 8 minutes. Add salt and vinegar, this is so the shell won't stick to the egg. Once boiled empty hot water and run under cold water to stop the cooking process. Crack eggs, cut into cubes or mash which ever you prefer. Add salt, pepper and mayonaise taste. Your done.
Ok this is how I do it and it works every time.
Put the eggs in the pan first then fill with water
put them on High and when they come to a boil set a timer for 15 minutes
In 15 drain them and put them back in the pan
shake the pan around with the eggs in it just to crack the shells a little
then fill with very cold water and some ice cubes
this builds steam under the shell and makes it much easier to peel.
About 15-20 minutes peel them and dry them off
put in a good size bowl and smash with a fork so there are no big lumps
add mayo till the consistance you like and add some salt and pepper . Thats the simplest.
You could also add some red pepper, celery, spicy brown mustard or even some diced peppers if you would like some heat
Happy eating!!!
First, dont drop the eggs into the boiling water. put the eggs in a pan with enough cold tap water so that the eggs will float. Then put the heat on high, when the water starts a rolling boil (boiling strong) set your timer for 10 minutes. take the pan to the sink and run cold water over the eggs. when you do this the eggs shrink away from the shell (inside) and are much easier to peel.
I dont ever measure any of the ingredients, mostly by sight and taste.
if you start with four eggs that should be enough for a couple of sandwiches.
In bowl put your chopped eggs, squirt enough Miracle Whip to cover, at this point just mix it all up until you think you like the consistency. put some salt and pepper a few shakes of each. Then squirt some regular mustard into the bowl, start with a line about 2 inches long. Mix and taste. add more to your liking. I like to cut up some sweet baby dills or use sweet relish in my egg salad, for 4 eggs use about a table spoon.
You really cant go wrong, with this. I like to toast white bread and spread the egg salad on extra thick.
Thanks I think I will have that for lunch tomorrow...good luck
You do not mention how much you need so I will give you this recipe. You will need:
6 eggs - to hard boil them staat with cold water and make sure you have enough water in the pan to cover them. I put the water in and them gently place the eggs in the pan when the pan is setting on the stove. Bring to a full boil and take them off the heat and set a timer for 18 minutes. Make sure to cover the pan for the entire18 minutes. When the timer goes off drain the hot water and run cold water over them to prevent further cooking and discoloration of the yolk. Peel them and chop. If they are hard to peel run cold water over the egg.
1/2 cup of mayo or miricle whip.
1/4 teaspoon salt and pepper each.
1/2 cup celery chopped kind of fine
1/4 cup onion chopped kind of fine
Mix all of this together and you have egg salad. If you do not like onion or celery you could probably leave them out if you wanted. Good luck and enjoy!
First, the secret to keeping your eggs from cracking is to place them gently in cold water with a little salt added. Go to the following site for a good egg salad recipe. http://www.goodegg.com/recipe.eggsalad.h... - Good luck!
- Add 4-6 eggs to small pot and cover eggs completely with cold water.
- Add a little salt to the water.
- Heat over medium-high heat 8-10 minutes after water is boiling.
- Remove from heat and cover eggs with cold water and let sit 5 minutes.
- Peel(*) and rinse each egg.
- Dice eggs with a knife or send through a food processor.
- Add Miracle Whip (a little at a time until it suits your tastebuds liking) and a little mustard.
(*) An easy way to peel an egg with rare error is to gently tap the egg on each side on the counter and then gently roll your palm over the egg back and forth. This loosens the shell and makes it come off alot easier and should take only 5-10 seconds per egg.
- Instead of Miracle Whip you can use mayo.
- Mustard isnt a requirement; it just adds a little more flavor and color.
- Other things to possibly add: diced sweet gherkins or sweet pickle relish, onion, peas, crumbled bacon, diced bell pepper, celery, dill, paprika, diced or sliced green olives, etc.
Since you asked for a simple recipe, I will not go into elaborate details.
1- Boil some eggs till they are hard. I usually put them in cold water and boil them for about 5 mins or more.
2- Cool them under cold running water, peel and slice.
3- Boil some potatoes. Cool them under cold water, peel and slice/cut the way you like.
4- Put the potatoes and the eggs on a plate.
5- Chop some fresh mint leaves and add to the salad.
6- Sprinkle some salt and pour a little bit of virgin olive oil.
There you go; a simple and healthy egg salad.
If you want to enrich your lunch, you can open a can of tuna fish and add to it. Make sure you drain the oil in the can so that it doesn't devaluate the taste and flavor of the olive oil.
Bon appetit.
