I have to make a white sauce for lasagne but only have self raising flour?!

Question:

I have to make a white sauce for lasagne but only have self raising flour?

will it still work if i don't use plain flour?

Answers:
I use whichever I have on hand and have never noticed the slightest difference. Either works perfectly. The important think is to cook it for 1 minute after you mix it with the melted butter and to then stir continuously as you add the milk.

Ragu makes white sauce in a jar. Make a wal mart run and pick some up.

Yes ,really you are heating the flour to burst the starch capsules to thicken the milk and starch is contained i both flours

Easiest answer is to try it. My guess is that since you're not truly trying to bake it or go through the baking process, but essentially just warming it, you'd be okay.

Yes i would think you can use that!
