Red meat is a great source of protein, but it is a cancer risk. The American Institute for Cancer Research’s expert panel report, Food, Nutrition and the Prevention of Cancer, recommends limiting red meat consumption to three ounces a day or less. You can read here for more info:

I have made the best meatloaf mixing ground pork, ground turkey and ground beef. I think it is more moist and full of flavor. Definitely worth doing!

It will taste more like beef than turkey.

Not sure. I'd just buy the best ground beef possible (94% lean) or else buy ground buffalo. If the skin is ground with it, ground turkey can be higher in fat than ground beef.

Turkey is milder than beef but the mixture will reduce the beef flavor some. I use ground turkey, chicken and beef in meatloaf or spaghetti and it is just fine. I also will mix pork sausage, ground beef, and ground elk or venison together for meatloaf reducing the gaminess of the dish. So as you can see it is fine and your dish will turn our just great, be sure to tell him that you are 'compromising' so both of you can enjoy your meals, and you are doing it with love :).

you totally can!!

Yes, you can. Once you season it - he won't notice the difference. Because the turkey is leaner, it will make the mixture a little dry. So add some liquid like red wine or a vegetable broth when you mix it - just a couple of tablespoons worth will do. This will also add some additional flavor to the mix...

if you would like to you sure can

It sounds good. It will probably taste like beef but lighter.

u can mix them depending on what ur cooking. But generally yes should be able to.

But why do u think beef is unhealthy?? Last time I checked it was full of protein & iron and vitamins. Beef is very healthy as long as u cook it in a healthy way. Grilled is good.

That is the mixture I use for meatloaf and meatballs. It tastes really good and I bet your husband will not even notice the turkey in there...so don't tell him. I had my husband fooled for about 6 months before I told him.
I say it is definitely worh doing. So cook on!

I often mix ground chicken with ground beef. It has a nice taste. I've used it in spaghetti, chili and shepherds pie without my son noticing. I've never tried it with burgers though. I usually go half and half.

Basically, you can combine ANY two (or more) types of ground meat. Meatloaf, for example, is often made from 50 percent ground beef, 25 percent ground pork, and 25 percent ground veal. There are probably as many variations on this ratio as there are meatloaf recipes.

Remember two things: the turkey, especially since it's ground, needs to be cooked to a higher temperature (at least 175 degrees internal). Also, the turkey is fairly lean; to avoid having dry burgers, use a fairly high-fat type of ground beef, such as ground round or chuck.

You can also add some fat (in a more healthy way) by adding a tablespoon or two of vegetable oil, preferably olive oil, to the ground meat mixture.

By the way, it will taste just fine.

I'm vegetarian, but I cook for meat eaters and I've mixed the two a lot. As long as your seasonings are good and the meat is cooked they really shouldn't be able to tell.

Yes. I made meatballs the other day this way. They were the best I've ever made.

yes, there are many recipes that suggest for you to mix ground meats. Just on sunday I made a pasta sauce w/ ground beef, ground veal, and ground pork, and it was super yummy
