Question:

What's the best way to make a really nice thick omelet?

The ingredients i have are:- Eggs, Cheese & Bacon! Thanks!

Answers:
Fry up the bacon until crispy. Drain on paper towels and break into chunks.
Preheat broiler.
If you are looking to do a thick, fluffy omelet, you need to separate the egg whites from the yolks. Whip the whites with a mixer until they are fluffy and stiff. Gently fold in the egg yolks.
Heat an oven safe frying pan on medium heat with a tbsp of butter.
Gently add the egg mixture and put a lid on the pan...allow to cook for about 3-4 minutes.
Add bacon and cheese to top of omelet.
Put pan under broiler for a couple of minutes - watch closely so it doesn't burn.
Gently fold out onto plate.

Enjoy!!

Add a bit more milk.

Mix a little sour cream in with the eggs before cooking...it makes them fluffy

Use as many eggs as you like. Cook until set on the bottom then finish in the oven. Set on middle oven rack under broil setting. Check after 5 minutes. It will puff up.

Without typing out an entire recipe, I'll just suggest that you bake the omelet in the oven, rather than cooking it on the stove top.

Combine whatever ingredients you're using, in a big bowl. Grease a casserole, dump in the egg mixture, and bake it at 375 for about 30 minutes. You'll know it's done when the top is lightly browned, and the egg mixture doesn't "jiggle" anymore when you shake the casserole.

Most restaurants add a bit of flour to the egg/milk batter for some fluffiness

A couple tablespoons of pancake batter added to the egg mixture will result in a nice thick omelet or if you want to do something slightly more complicated, separate the eggs and whip the yolks until they double in volume, then whip the whites to stiff peaks, the fold the whites into the yolks. This method makes extremely fluffy omelets.

add an extra egg and finish under the grill, this makes it thick and puffed up.enjoy! oh and cook with butter not oil : )

When whipping your eggs and milk, add just a pinch of bisquick mix or pancake mix(depending on how many eggs). Do not over-whip(or stir) your mixture though.

For really fluffy results put 1/2 teaspoon of baking powder in the eggs (for three eggs) and put eggs in a blender for about five minutes, this will work air into the eggs and ensure fluffyness.
