No. Putting coal or briquettes in your gas grill would probably void your warranty. If you want that "smokey" flavour, why not use some wood chips...hickory, mesquite, etc...in your gas grill. You soak the wood chips in water and then put them in a chip container that fits in the bottom of your grill so they smolder and disburse the flavour to whatever you're cooking.
Our gas grill came with the lava bricks that are recommended to go in the bottom of the grill to evenly distribute the heat. If your grill didn't come with them, I know you can pick them up at Home Depot.
no
It will work with out the briquettes.
it will affect the flavor, it wont have the charcoal flavor anymore but it will still be good,
I don't think you need any coals for a gas grill. I don't think it will affect the taste either.
hahahhahah aaa hhhahahahha where would you put coals on a GAS grill???? funny...
No; but it is recommended that you use lava rocks or lava style briquettes- dose not interfere with taste of food but helps with heating and keeping foods hot.
The non-combustible lava rocks and equivalents help spread the heat out and even it across the cooking area. They also help maintain the temperature. In addition, they serve as a place for drippings to collect and smoke, making for a more flavorful grill experience. Because they intercept the drippings, they prevent or reduce the buildup of goop and ash on the gas burners too, so they don't get all clogged and messed up. You can cook without the rocks, but it won't be quite the same.
they help dissipate the heat and promot even cookin, and also catch the drippings and burn them off instead of them dipping and collecting on your burner and rusting it out, so yes you need to use them.
