Why do people automatically suggest recipe websites?!

Question:

Why do people automatically suggest recipe websites?

When someone on Yahoo answers wants a recipe for something, why do people automatically give them a website? When people ask for recipes, they are generally asking for recipes that have been tried. Usually people have already searched sites and did not find what they were looking for. Why not help people by giving them recipes you have tried, not just a website. If they ask for a website, fine. But when they ask for recipes, thats what they want. Why do people do this?

Links to recipes are fine, thats basically giving the recipe. What bothers me is when they just say go to this website, you will find what you are looking for. I am not saying I have never suggested websites, cause I have suggested websites, only when I have not found a recipe that fits what people are looking for.

I totally agree that this is so annoying! I also hate when say, someone asks for a lasagna recipe and someone has to post 5 or 10 different recipes for different lasagnas...drives me crazy. Half the time, people aren't even reading the whole question. When someone asks a question for a recipe, they aren't looking for food websites...I am pretty sure most people know how to find those!
I agree with proud-to-be though...I cook off a lot of websites and instead of sometimes posting a lengthy recipe, I will find the link and just give that, so as not to take up a ton of space in the answer column.

I usually try to give the recipe, and if I do give a website, it's for a recipe I've tried and liked. Another reason I sometimes put a link instead of a recipe is that I don't like putting really long posts on here.

I find it very annoying. There is one particular answerer on here, that all she does is send people to "recipeland for thousands of recipes that are free" if thats all your going to do, don't waste the questioner's time
edit
equally annoying are the answerers who list every darn recipe they come across and dont edit out the stuff like
"not the one? try checking
other recipes like this one" etc.

Ditto to "proud to be 51". I use the same rationale.

i'm guilty for doing that, but i do it because it is easier for me to do. i don't want to write the whole recipe down from my head. i also do it because whenever i cook, i never measure anything. i can measure just by sight. therefore, i'm not giving people the incorrect measurements and have the recipes wrong. i give a complete site because the sites i recommend are great sites and they can use it for future reference. the recipes are tried out, with pictures and ratings. plus, there are so many recipes of the same recipe they want, but some may have different versions of it, they can choose which one they want. that's why i do it, i can't speak for anyone else. ....and i think libbyami is referring to me beacuse i do tell everyone to go to www.recipezaar.com. and i will continue to do so...i get voted best answer and thank you e-mails all the time for referring that site.

it is very annoyting. I have given a website when they are looking for something general and do not give you enough details about what they are looking for. But I do try to give a recipe if at all possible. That way others reading the post also might like it as well.

I think some people just like being $mart-a$$es to earn a whole 2 points....

I post recipes, not links. I agree w/ you... to get to the point of posting a recipe request, surely the person has googled the recipe first! If I can't post a recipe from my HD, I just dont' answer, unless I have some really good leads or a very similar recipe that may help them find or create the one they want.

If I am asked for a recipe I may copy one out of my recipe book and paste it, or will write a reply, and then add it to my recipe book.
