Do potatoes go bad? well i mean sprouts wise?!

Question:

Do potatoes go bad? well i mean sprouts wise?

if they have sprouts can u still use em for fried taters

Answers:
yes, potatoes can go bad. just because a tater sprouts eyes and stuff doesn't mean that it is necessarily bad. if the potato feels soft and has a lot of big black, or gray spots on it, then they are bad. the potato will also have wrinkles if its bad.

yeah they will be fine but for much longer so use them up soon :)

As long as the sprouts are small you can.

If the sprouts get large you will find that the potatoes themselves are soft (since they have sent their internal materials into the sprouts). Those soft ones are not good for anything edible (but are good for planting if you cut them up into sections with sprouts).

Potatoes do go bad (soft) and form mold and get rotten. Mostly, when not refrigerated. They will sprout in the refrigerator but as long as they stay firm trim off the sprout and dig out the eye a little. They should be excellent for fried taters. (I would slice some sweet onions and let them fry.) Yum Yum!

everything goes bad sonner or later. everyting will die sometime

Yes - the sprouts only show that the potato has continued to ripen - the best application for softer potatoes are fried, hash browns and potato pancakes. Due to the excess starch they will not perform as well for french fires or baked applications. Enjoy!

if the potatoe is mushy or soft, then its gone bad. if its still firm but has sprouts, just cut off the sprouts and its good!

Keep the potatoes in a dark room, away from sunlight which will cause the chlorophyll to turn them green and bitter. A green patch on a potato indicated the possible presence of solanine, which is toxic in high amounts of consumption. All green should be peeled away, all traces of sprouts and eyes on the potato should be removed before cooking. Hope I could help.

dig out the sprouts and they are okay eat then.

maybe!!

yes
don't buy mashing taters if you want fried taters - use sebago
far healthier is to use sweet potatoes - bake or microwave and don't fry in any oil.
