Are mushrooms bad for you to eat when out of date?!

Question:

Are mushrooms bad for you to eat when out of date?

Answers:
Product freshness dating is not exact. The date is mainly to set a time limit on when a seller can be expected to accept a return on food that has spoiled.
I am guessing we are talking fresh mushrooms as opposed to canned or dried mushrooms. If the mushrooms are slimey or soft, don't eat them, If they are firm and dry, they should be Okay..

if they look alright and are not slimmy to the touch they will be fine.........if you bought them loose they would not have a sell by date on them , we are brainwashed , go with common sense

why not?? mushrooms are the best!

at first i read ur question wrong and thought u meant is it bad to eat mushrooms when out on a date lol. You should probably look up on google whether its ok and if they are like yeaaaars out of date then it would be best not to. If they look good though then why not?! :)

use by dates are only a guide, people should look at, smell their food and decide if it is still ok to eat. if the folks that threw away food that was past its sell or use by date had any idea how long some of it was lying about in distribution points before reaching shop shelves they would be horrified

Mushrooms are bad at any stage of their developement. Not 100% true, its the horse droppings and other gunge sticking to them that is detrimental to human digestion. One day a chef will have the idea of cleaning them and his food will move up a star or two........ The best most get is a quick wipe with a dirty cloth. Not for this little chicken

yes
very bad
