Can anyone share a summer drink...non-alcholic please?
Looking for a great non-alcholic drink for the summer to serve when we have visitors over.
Answers:
try freezing cut up bananas. then when they are frozen blend them with milk and sugar.. if you want you can add other frozen fruits like strawberries. Its a smoothie you can also add cinnamon or nutmeg for other flavors... if you want something fast try Island milk which sounds nasty but tastes great! just blend milk with orange juice or apple juice and some ice until the consistency gets thick and add alittle sugar.. ENJOY!!
Shirley Temple
Cherry flavoring with sprite.
DIVINE!!!
Virgin Pina Colada which mean a Pina Colada with no alcohol
Tropical Frappe
6 fluid ounces passion fruit juice
2 tablespoons cream of coconut
1 cup pineapple chunks
1 ripe banana
6 large ice cubes
Combine all ingredients in a blender. Blend until the ice is crushed and the mixture is thick. Serve in tall glasses with a straw. Sprinkle ground nutmeg or cinammon on top and garnish with fresh fruit.
Cucumber Cooler
SERVES: 1
1/2 small seedless cucumber, grated, plus 4 thin cucumber slices
1/2 cup fresh pineapple chunks
2 ounces pineapple juice
1/4 ounce Simple Syrup
Ice
1 ounce chilled club soda
Put the grated cucumber in a cheesecloth-lined strainer set over a small bowl. Twist and squeeze the cheesecloth to extract as much liquid as possible; you should have 2 ounces of cucumber water.
In a cocktail shaker, muddle the pineapple chunks and juice with the Simple Syrup. Add the cucumber water and ice; shake well. Pour into a highball glass and top with the soda and cucumber slices.
My favorite summer drinks are smoothies and other slushie drinks. Mix up some frozen juice concentrate with ice and some clear soda. Very good!! Or pick up some N/A margaritas.
There is nothing like Iced Tea or Lemonade on a hot summer day.
I'd have to recommend lemonade.
Agua de sandia (mexican watermelon "water"):
4 cups watermelon (you can leave the seeds in if you want...it doesn't really matter)
1/2 cup sugar, or to taste.
1.5 quarts water.
Put chunks of watermelon in a blender. Add 2 cups water.
Blend completely. Pour into a pitcher. Add remaining water and sugar to taste. Refrigerate a few hours and let the liquid separate a little.
Pour over ice and enjoy. (best to use a pitcher that has a straining lid, but not necessary...the pureed seeds, etc just sink to the bottom, and are not consumed).
I would do one of two things: I love Paul Newman's products, so if I didn't want to mix-up something, buy his Virgin Lemon-Aided Iced Tea... it's a lemonade/iced tea combo that is really refreshing.... Another option is to buy some quality lemonade or make your own... fill a glass with ice... add about a half ounce of grenadine, then top up with lemonade and stir, and a wedge of orange and a maraschino cherry.
When I was a kid my Dad used to mix ginger-ale with grape Kool-Aid, and we would bring it to the beach... that might work too!
Cheers!
