Answers:
I just melt real butter in a frying pan and sautee them until golden. At that point I add cinnamon and sugar and little more butter and a splash of real vanilla.

there really not fried just deheydrated so I dont really know how'd u make them on a stove top though

plantains as opposed to sweet bananas (aka dessert bananas) can be cooked when they are ripe. you can find a recipe for fried plantains (i usually make them sweet) on the net. www.epicurious.com is a good cooking site.

my sister and i make fried plantains using a non-stick skillet on medium-high heat (at first and then gradually lowering it down to medium to medium-low heat) in which we put sweet-cream butter, ripe plantains sliced (1/2 inch thick) on the diagonal, OJ, and brown sugar. we coat the plantains until the sugar, OJ and butter have caramelised on them. then we serve them hot. it's really good!

there are other recipes using plantains, especially in indian, and south american cuisine. there is a savoury version of my sweet costa rican recipe on The Food Network. it's online.

a "stove-top" recipe using regular dessert bananas would be to flambe (french for "flaming") them and serving on top of ice cream.
