How do you get dried on grease off a frying pan?
My friend fried some chicken in a brand new frying pan a week ago. I assumed she cleaned the pan and put it away. A week later I find it in the stove with the grease still in it. The grease had dripped all down the sides of the pan and dried like that. Now I can't get it off the outside of the pan.
The pan is by Cook's Essentials in their Red Hardcoat Enamel II line.

Hey there!! I've been in this predicament b4. I have found like another person stated that heating it up again works quite well. Although in my rendition i will fill pot/pan with water add a bit of dish soap and let it come to a boil. Then allow it to cool 'til U r able to handle scrubbing it in the sink w/o burning yourself on the metal. Another tip is 2 use a scrub brush w/nylon bristles or try a scraper tool-small square w/straight edges on it. Don't use a butter knife although you may b tempted 2 do so!! You'll just ruin your cookware. When all else fails use a green scrubby gently. Don't go using such an abrasive cleaning tool as an SOS pad you'll do more damage. Anyhoo hope these ideas help U! Best of Luck :)

my own experience
Use an S.O.S pad
I would use one of those S.O.S pads that can remove anything. They work great!
try vinegar....let it set, its a known grease cutter...or try easy off
reheating will loosen it up hot water and soap and somekind of clean pad should work fine.
Well i just put it back on the stove and let it heat up, and then I take it out put dishwashing soap on it (without water) and then scrub, then put water and repeat
Not knowing what kind of frying pan you have, I'd say to soak it in the sink with regular dish soap for a few hours, then use a soft cloth and baking soda to scrub off the hard bits. Baking soda won't scratch whatever surface is on your pan.
no problem....
just put some water in the pan ... and reheat the pan,,,,
after some boils,,,,, drain the water and wipe the pan with a tissue.... it will be more hygenic!!!
Try spraying easy off oven cleaner on it and let it sit for at least an hour.
Bad news report: If the grease has been cooked on to the metal no force in the universe can remove it aside from sanding or grinding. Grease can bond to metal on a molecular level and never come off.
Good news report: That type of thing happens to every pan, pot, griddle, etc....ther's no way to avoid it ultimately it will happen. The only thing it affects is how pretty your pan looks.
