How do you cook army rations and for how long ?!

Question:

How do you cook army rations and for how long ?

Answers:
There is no need to cook the contents of an MRE (Meals Ready to Eat). Often you don't have time to even heat them. That is a luxury only REMF's can enjoy.

Boil them for four hours and add loads of curry powder and mustard. Are you sure theres not a sheep close by that you could shoot?

what rations are you talking about arnt they boil in the bag stuff

Army rations don't haved to be cooked. Even the old C rations came ready to eat, all you needed was a P-38 (can opener).

it does what it says on the tin.

you clott..they are buscuits and bully beef..you dont cook them

The only cooking I ever done on Army rations, was to light the wick on a tin of self heating soup. These tins were slightly larger than your ordinary soup tin. There was a tube built in to the middle of the tin, with a wick on the on top of the tube, which I think was packed with something like phosphoros. You li the wick and waited about 10 seconds and you had a tin of hot soup. All you had to do was open the tin and eat it. Everything came in a tin, even matches, tea, sugar, jam, and toilet paper. There was also tins of "pom" which was powdwered potato, so Cadburys Smash is nothing new. Also bars of chocolate,(Carsons milk Chocolate). So hardly any cooking.

With the field rations they U.S. Army gets these days all you do is add some water and a little pill that heats it up. Wait a couple of minutes and you have a hot meal. You can get them at Army surplus stores. They're fun and they actually taste pretty good. Try 'em sometime.
