Living in Texas we Like Fried Chicken , mashed potatoes, Blacked Peas , turnip greens , corn on the cob

Cornbread, crowder peas, turnip greens, fried anything we can, including fried pickles, okra, fried green tomatoes, then grits, black-eyed peas on New Years, white gravy on biscuits, sauerkraut with wieners and eggs with gravy. BBQ and watermelon always. We always cook on the grill, and serve potato salad, cole slaw, baked beans, corn on the cobb and some kind of bread!!! Did I leave out anything Probably, but cannot think now of the millions of other things we eat. Sweet tea and fried fish, oh I mentioned fried things. Mint Juleps, Kentucky horse racing and race cars, Mad things like parades, jubilation events, concerts and such, we get together for whatever reason!!!!

I cannot believe nobody's mentioned a pouch of salted peanuts in a Coke. Maybe it's because the old glass deposit bottles have fallen out of favor? It's sad when fun, unique regional food traditions disappear.

Roast and rice and gravy on Sundays with mashed taters and petit pois peas.
