How to prevent burning in baking?!

Question:

How to prevent burning in baking?

Whenever I bake brownies or giant cookies, the edges always go brown sooner than the center gets to bake properly, which results in either burnt edges or an uncooked brownie/cookie. How can I prevent this?

Answers:
Cook like a sports car - lower and longer!
My cookies take 15 minutes @ 180°C (350° F). If they are larger, I'll put them on a lower shelf and turn the fan on. With the fan on, you can lower the temperature a bit more, and they'll cook right through.
Ingredients which burn easily are almond meal, sugar, fruit like sultanas and raisins. These are the ones to be aware of, and cook longer and lower. Or turn cookie recipes into muffins by adding an egg or two and pouring into pans in a muffin tray!
Experiment! It's the best way to become proficient at using what you have, spectacularly.

aluminium foil until it is cooked and then take it off for tha last 5-10 minutes good luck hope it works for you. i love alfoil yay...

Try cooking at a slightly cooler temperature.

If the oven is too hot, the outsides of the food will burn before the center is sufficiently cooked; hence a burnt outside and undercooked inside. Lower temps take longer but bake more evenly.

Sounds like the oven is too hot? Try it on a lower temparature for longer.

well temp control...the pan you use, and you have to have a even consistincy, of batter, you know like all the cookies shoul dbe the same size, and they should be pressed out, don't just cook a big ball of cookie dough...and you have to remember that cookies are done cooking like a couple minutes before they "look" done same with brownies....may look not done but it can only take a minute for them to get overcooked and start to brown

Line baking dish with wax paper and see if this helps

Maybe you preheat the oven at high temperature. Or maybe you use high temperature to save time on baking. Guard what you bake and cook on a moderate temperature.

it is way safer to bake your cookies or brownies at a lower temperature though it will take more time baking but at least the results would be even colored cookies/brownies.i usually have my cookies at 160-170'C for about 25-30minutes...good luck

I always have the same problem: the first batch came out beautifully, but the the following batches came out burnt :( , so my trick is to lower the oven temperature abt 20degrees celcius after the first batch came out

SOUNDS LIKE YO ARE COOKING TOO HIGH,TURN DOWN THE OVEN,ALSO ROTATE THE OVEN TRAY AT INTERVALS,THIS HELPS TO EVEN THE BAKING.

lower the degree .
always check the timing

If the centre is not cooked and the edge is burnt then it sounds like your oven is too hot. Just lower it a bit.
