Healthy recipe source?!
Healthy recipe source?
I was recently diagnosed with Hypoglycemia. I need to eat complex carbs and find my sugar only in fruit......not easy for me who lives on white bread and box dinners. I'm a fairly decent cook but I need some new recipes to try.

I would suggest sticking to fresh produce, and whole grains, but your Dr. probabaly already told you that. I always keep a copy of the Better Homes and Gardens cookbook handy. It has a lot of very basic recipes that can be easily adapted for your needs. Good Luck.
maybe cooks.com b/c they have healthy choices or foodnetwork.com b/c i remember a commercial by this woman who had hypoglycemia and she had her own website that i think was called glycemia girl .com or glucose girl or something but search glucose girl .com food network commercial and you might find it...sry
I've been trying to do the same thing.
I found a site that says:''The best carbs are the complex carbs. Simple carbs tend to be used almost immediately by the body and generally contain a great deal of fat. Complex Carbs: legumes, lentils, cabbage, carrots, broccoli, corn, lettuce, potatoes, whole grain bread, pasta''
So, I often make soup for my lunches, I make a batch then freeze in individuall portions and microwave for 4-5 minutes. I've tried different lentil soups, and bean soups (Which I had never tried before) and they both make delicious soups. The lentils and dried peas dissolve in the soup. Since I don't really like beans, I put the bean soup in the blender - turned out delicious!
I've stopped buying white pasta and use only whole wheat pasta, and instead of piling my plate, I limit the portion and fill up on vegetables or the sauce(if its tomato based).
For bread, I don't like whole wheat, but I do like 12 or 14 grain breads , so I eat that with peanut butter.
I found a really good recipe for cabbage, (which I didn't like before either) It's a South beach diet recipe, I add mushrooms to it. - its really good and freezes well also. You might find other recipes you like on this site.
