Oats mixed with honey then add milk. Is it just as healthy as normal oatmeal?
I like to eat this and since my brother, Isaac, made it up(in this house I don't doubt its been invented elsewhere) we call it Isaac's Cereal. Anyway, I just wondering if I added just enough honey to make it sweet, was it still beneficially healthy?
Answers:
yes. the honey just adds a few more calories, but the nurtitional value is the same
honey is not bad for you...its quite healthy on the contrary.
moooooooooo
honey is very sugary (fructose) is simalr to (glucose) - another simple sugar molecule. so dont put too much on. If your bodys fine with carbs (mine isnt) its very healthy and sustaining! You could try different types of milk so that the body doesnt stagnate on just one type e.g oat milk, almond milk, coconut milk, goat milk, soya milk! each has its own taste! Good luck XXX
Oatmeal is really good for you and if you're using skim milk, that's pretty healthy as well.
Honey isn't bad for you; it's basically just sugar. So if you use too much honey, it won't be very healthy. But a sparing amount just to sweeten it shouldn't hurt.
Unfortunately, I don't know where the cutoff is for "too much".
Actually...Au Bon Pan makes the same thing, but with fruit and raisins also...
The honey will add a few calories, but as long as it's not overdone it won't be that bad for you.
Yes but your off base about being original.
I'm 67 and we had it often including plain white sugar or brown sugar with cinnamon.
Left-over oats can be fried into oat cakes just like pancakes.
We got that also,, with margarine and maple syrup (butter cost too much)
I don't think it is that UN healthy because honey is actually healthy. I use it in my tea instead of sugar....So to your question yes its healthy.
You're right... here's nothing new about honey and milk in oatmeal... very tasty. It's beneficially healthy. You're not using much honey.
Yes. You didn't say whether you have cooked the oatmeal or not. The only thing that you changed is the sweetener over how millions of people eat their oatmeal.
The food value of each ingredient isn't changed by any other.
You could do the same thing cooked or not. But if you don't cook the oatmeal, put the oatmeal in a bowl with the milk the night before and put it in the frig. It makes a delightful cold cereal, you could then take your sweetening from any fruit you could add.
It sounds good. And I think it would be healthy. Try mixing in some fruit too.
