It depends on how many people you are trying to feed. I will expect that you need to feed 4 people on your $10 a meal budget. I will get pretty close, but might be a little bit over.

Day 1

Go to the supermarket and get 1 family pack of chicken breast. Generally you get 6 chicken breast in the pack. It will be about $10.

Take four of the chicken breast and marinate them in italian dressing ($1). The other two chicken breast just salt and pepper them. Wrap the marinated chicken in a foil pack. Place the pouches on a foil lined baking dish. Place the salt and pepper coated chicken directly on the foil paper. Bake the chicken for about 25 minutes (over the time limit, but you can make it ahead and you don't have to do anything once it's in the oven there are no worries) on 350. Remove them from the oven.

For the italian chicken you will then do this:

In a frying pan sautee 1 small diced onion, 1 clove of diced garlic (and any other veggies you like but this should be the least). Let these cook on a low heat for about 5 minutes. Then add 2 can's of diced italian tomatoes ($3) in sauce. Let this simmer on low for about 10 minutes. Then add the chicken and the drippings into the pan. Top with mozz ($2)or parm (cost depends on quality) cheese depending on how you like to deal with calories, cover the pan and let it simmer for about 5 minutes. Serve it over pasta.

For the salt and pepper chicken dice the chicken into small chunks. To this add mayo (to your liking), a tiny squirt of mustard, 1 small diced onion and 1 stalk of diced celery. You can add any other veggies to this as you like as well. Add salt and pepper to taste. I like it on bread, but my low carbing mother likes it in butter lettuce. Serve with chips ($2) and pickles ($2). If you have extra money pick up some lettuce and tomatoes for your sandwich.

Day 2
For Dinner Beef Stroganoff. Get about 1 lb. of stewed beef ($5). I like to cut mine into smaller bite size pieces, it cooks quicker and it's easier to cook, but you don't have to. Sautee this in a pan with 1 small diced onion, salt and pepper until the beef is browned on all sides. Then fill the pan with water and let it simmer for about 1 hour (I know it's over the time limit again but you don't have to do anything and it can be made ahead of time). You should have about 1 tbsp. of thick liquid on the bottom of the pan. If you have more turn up the heat for a few minutes, if you have less add a little water and scrape the bits off the bottom of the pan. To this add 2 cans of cream of mushroom soup ($1), 1 container of sour cream ($1), 1 can of condensed milk ($1), and if you are feeling really wild you can sautee up a small container of sliced button mushrooms and add it to the mix ($2). Let it simmer for about 10 minutes. Then top egg noodles ($1) with this. Or, I like mine baked a little in the oven on 450 so the top gets crispy, but not necessary.

For lunch make grilled cheese and tomato soup. Everyone loves this.

Day 3

Buy a family size pack of hamburger ($10).

For dinner buy things for a taco bar. Head of lettuce, pack of tomatoes ($2), 1 container sour cream ($1), 1 container salsa ($2), one can of olives and a pack of taco seasoning mix ($1), 2 packs of tortillas and/or taco shells($3). Use 1/2 the ground beef for this.

For lunch make burgers and pasta salad. You need buns ($1) for the burgers. The pasta salad is simple.

1 box of tri colored pasta ($1)
1 bottle of italian dressing ($1)
1 bag of cheddar crumbles or cubed cheddar cheese ($2)
1 small can of slice black olives ($.50)
15 slices of pepperoni from the deli ($2)
1 small onion diced
1/2 pepper diced

Boil and strain the pasta and add the rest of the ingredients.

Microwave.

McDonald's , Burger King , Wendy's , Arby's, Pizza Hut and Golden Coral :))

This one is delicious and easy:

Zesty Chicken

INGREDIENTS
6 skinless, boneless chicken breast halves
1 1/2 (1 ounce) packages dry onion soup mix
1 (10 fluid ounce) bottle Wishbone Italian salad dressing
1 cup (or small jar) apricot preserves

DIRECTIONS
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
Place the chicken pieces in a 4 quart casserole dish. Mix the soup mix, dressing and jam together, and pour over the chicken.
Cover dish and bake for 1 hour in preheated oven.

What sort of foods are you looking for? Who and how many are you cooking for? There are 2 places you could get ideas from at foodtv.com the 30 minute meals show and semi-homemade.

Meatball subs
Hoagies
meatballs (I buy frozen)
and sauce ( I buy in a jar)
mozz cheese

grilled bbq chicken
and bake potatoe

salad
fish

chickent wraps/tortillas
fry chicken in taco seasong
serve with green pepper
onion
mont jack cheese

Lunches you could easily make sandwiches. . . Try to make them fun if you can. Or, also if you made one soup at the beginning of the three days that could last for a few of the days as well. Rachel Ray is the obvious choice here for 30 minute meals, whether people like her or not! LOL For dinners, try to make pastas (cheat and use jar sauce, the whole thing will only cost about $5 for a jar and a box of pasta, and feed lots of people) or grill things like burgers and hot dogs. Pretty cheap and easy. You don't need to be a chef for stuff like that, especially if you buy pre made salads to go with it (coleslaw, potato salad, etc). . .Best of luck!!!

Spaghetti...Add Ground beef, sausage links cut in chunks, 1 onion, 1 bell pepper, and 1 chopped garlic clove to favorite sauce, pour over noodles and serve with salad and french bread. I add Red Pepper flakes for a kick.

Taco Salad...Ground 1/2 to 1lb hamburger, add chopped bell peppers, onions and tomatos and simmer with
4 - 8oz of Velveeta, then drizzle over romaine or iceburg lettuce and fritos. Add sliced jalapenos and salsa on top.

Enchiladas...Ground 1/2 to 1lb Hamburger, remove meat with slotted spoon and put aside in a bowl...pour in a 1/4 of a can of Enchilada Sauce and mix with beef. Place corn tortilla in pan with heated beef oil and flip until sides are soft, remove with tongs and lay tortilla flat in baking pan. Spoon in a small bit of beef and roll tortilla. Repeat until you have a desired amount of enchiladas. Pour the remaining can of sauce over enchiladas. Layer with grated cheddar or Velveeta, chopped onion and black or green olives. Cover with foil and cook 10 minutes at 375 degrees, remove foil and bake 5-10 minutes more until cheese browns.

Quick Shepherd's Pie...Boil 5 large potatoes. Mash with milk and butter, and a pinch of salt. Brown 1 lb beef and add a package of brown gravy, mixed as instructions provide. Simmer with onions and spoon over mashed potatoes. Cover with shredded cheddar. Salt and Pepper to taste.

Fettuccini Chicken Alfredo...Heat chicken and sliced onion in a bit of oil and season with salt and pepper. Cut chicken into chunks and add a jar of favorite Alfredo sauce. Add Broccoli if so desired (Microwave frozen Broccoli, it's easiest, or boil with noodles). Serve over Fettuccini with a side of romaine lettuce, shaved or grated parmesan and croutons in vinegar and oil.

Potatoes and Cheese Casserole...Boil 6 large potatoes and cut into chunks. In a bowl mix a cup of mayonaise, 8oz of shredded cheddar cheese, 8 oz of chopped bacon (or, I use Hormel Bacon Bits) salt, pepper, and 1/2 cup of sliced green olives. Layer potatoes on bottom of baking dish and spread cheese mixture over top. Cover with foil and bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes.

this is a good recipe but it takes a little longer than 30 minutes to cook

for porkchop casserole you'll need:

a package of porkchops (this recipe calls for four)
some seasoning of your choice
1 cup raw rice
one couch of onion soup mix
one can of cream of onion soup
1 1/2 cup of water
woresteshire (sp?) sauce

Preheat an oven to 350 degrees. Season the porkchops in your seasonings and then brown them in a skillet. Be sure to flip them to each side constantly While you're waiting on then to brown get a 9x13 baking dish and put the raw rice in it. Sprinkle it with woresteshire sauce. Ten you need to add the canned onion soup, soup mix, and water and stir. place porkchops on top. Cover with aluminum foil and place in the oven for 45 minutes

You cannot make 6 meals from $10.

a spanish omlette -- its called tortilla de patatas -- you need an onion a couple potatoes slice thin and 4 eggs and some oil for frying. you fry the onion and and potato til its a little brown and pour in the eggs and cook til its half set -- then use a plate to turn it over and cook it on the other side. heres a recipe with better instructions -- but too many potatoes.

serve it with some spanish sausage (chorizo) and you have a hearty meal any time of day. add some pan toasted bread topped with crushed tomatoes and you have a meal for dirt cheap that will impress anyone.

portuguese caldo verde -- its potato, some kind of green like endive, escarole, or kale, and some sausage. add some onion and garlic. you cube the potatoes, slice the sausage and cut the greens in ribbons. cook it all in a pot with some water -- heres a recipe from emeril --

do a pasta -- its easy -- cook a pot of pasta -- add a couple lbs of meat -- chicken, sausage, whatever -- add a couple veggies and drizzle olive oil over it all.

you can do farfalle (it means butterflies but we call em bowties in the united states -- such a travesty) with sausage, mushrooms and green peas. -- its a standard.

i think this is a rachael ray recipe -- pasta with spicy sausage, sun dried tomatoes and artichoke hearts.

if you cook chicken breasts just coat them in some balsamic vingear before you cook them and you have a really simple tasty chicken. serve it with some orzo (pasta that looks like rice) with ribbons of wilted spinach and toasted pine nuts. way too simple and nice enough to serve guests.

play around with the search engine on foodnetwork.com -- cooking is more about having fun and experimenting than following recipes by the book.

fyi -- i cook maybe twice a week but cook something that makes good leftovers. if you cook basic bland meals they don't make very good leftovers. hamburger helper is bad enough the first time around. the day after the dog won't even eat it. lots of stuff is really better the day after -- just experiment and mess around.
