What's the recipe for Chips and Gravy?
I've only had chips and gravy once, and loved it. I want to make it for my wife, but don't know how. I can't get it anywhere around where I live(US). Any help would be great! Thank you!

I don't know what type of gravy to use.....??? At the risk that your actually serious in asking the question you will probably find that onion gravy compliment chips best. I assume that you are also capable of making the chips, if not ask another question on how to make chips.
Slice a large onion into large rough dice, mix in a bowl with a few shakes of plain flour and a table sppon and a half = THREE GLUGS, of ground nut oil - veg oil if allergic to nuts, not olive oil for obvious reasons and a desert spoon of caster sugar.
spread onions out on baking tray and cook in a hot oven 200 degrees C for ten minutes of until they just start to blacken - dont burn them to bits!
put the roasted onions into a pan add a table spoon of mustard powder a little more oil bring to a sizzle in the pan mixing the mustard and onions together as they begin to fry, then add a pint ofboiling water and simmer for 5 minutes reducing for as long as you like to get a consistency that appeals to you maybe reducing to 2/3 pint will work but it isn't rocking horse science.
try curry sauce too - very popular in most UK chippies. CHIPS & GRAVY? chips and gravey ummm...
1. Chips
2. Gravy
Glad I could help chipped potatoes fried in lard/animal fat..then make up a jug of gravey(bisto?)..americans!..lo... 1-1/2 pounds ground beef (preferably ground chuck)
1 envelope dry onion soup mix
1/2 tsp ground allspice
1/2 cup crushed potato chips
2 cloves garlic, pressed
1/2 tsp dried oregano
4 ounces evaporated milk (not sweetened condensed)
1 tsp olive oil
2 Tbsp butter
16 ounces mushrooms, sliced
1/2 tsp salt
2 Tbsp flour
1-3/4 cups beef broth
1/2 cup heavy cream
Freshly ground pepper to taste
Chopped parsley for garnish
PREPARATION:
Combine ground beef, onion soup mix, allspice, crushed potato chips, garlic, oregano, and evaporated milk. Form into meatballs about the diameter of a quarter.
Heat a large, deep, heavy skillet over medium heat. Coat the bottom with olive oil. When oil begins to shimmer, add meatballs and lightly brown. You may need to do this in batches. Set aside meatballs.
In the same skillet, melt butter. Add sliced mushrooms and sprinkle with salt. Saute mushrooms until soft and lightly browned. Stir in flour and cook one minute, stirring often. Add beef broth and stir, scraping up browned bits from the bottom of the pan, until smooth. Return meatballs to the skillet and simmer gently about 5 minutes until meatballs are cooked through. Stir in cream and return to a simmer, but do not boil.
Serve potato chip meatballs with mushroom gravy over cooked noodles or rice and garnish with chopped parsley. Tough one.
It involves potatoes sliced into some kind of "chip" shape. And then some hot water and gravy powder mixed together to make a "gravy" type subtance.
Surely you can get chips in the US? And gravy powder?
