Yellow Rice and Beans With Sazon Adobo Sofrito.Puerto Rican Style?
Ok i need the recipe to make yellow rice the kind that has the adobo, sofrito, and sazon in it. Not all the other stuff. I need to know how much seasoning to put in, and when to add the beans. Thank You
Answers: the beans are the first thing in the pot. assuming they're canned beans, drain them first. Add them to the pot with your sofrito. (enough to add moisture to the beans) heat them till you hear them sizzle. now would be the time to add any green olives or browned chicken (seasoned with adobo). once all is hot and starting to sizzle, add the water for the rice. one packet of sazon into the water, then the rice. bring it to a boil... let it cook for like a minute. reduce fire to a simmer. cover (tight lid) and let it cook until the water is gone (about 25 minutes). when its done, taste it. you might want to add a bit more adobo. cook the black beans first! 6 hours at a simmer in water with sazon and adobo...season to taste
you need saffron or yellow food color to do the rice.
wash the rice in a strainer and then add 2ice as much water as rice. season generously with sazon and adob...add some minced cilantro. a pinch of cumin and a handful of chili powder will do.
bring the rice to a raging boil, stir it, cover it and set it on LOW!
wait 15 minutes, and it is perfect...now add your beans...you will have the perfect dish.
