Spaghetti Sauce Question..???!

Question:

Spaghetti Sauce Question..???

I am making spaghetii and i noticed that one of the cans was easy to open then the other one and i am wondering if it could of possiably been open, i know no one in my house would open it...

but i also tasted it compared to the other one and they tasted the same..

could there of been a taste difference if it was open?

would the sause color be different?

how could i know if it wasn't sealed enough?

Answers: If it is a can, it should be good. You would see a big bubble on the top of the can if it was contaminated or bad. My dad works in a grocery store and has showed me cans that have gone bad because of being dented or similar. It is quite obvious. Your can is most likely fine if it smells the same and tastes good. If you didn't hear the jar lid "pop" when you opened it perhaps it was not sealed properly. My motto is "when in doubt, throw it out".... The sauce would only taste different and appear to be a different color if it were open for a long period of time. It might've been easier to open than the other bottle, but as long as it made that vacuum releasing sound when you opened it, it's fine. if there is any doubt in your mind ... dump it. food poisoning is definately not pleasant. i could have Ben the same. one was just easyer to open if i dont hear it pop or a vaccum seal sucktion release it's been tampered with...i never use if it would have been opened, it probably would have molded by now, depending on when it was purchased. usually i listen for the pop noise it makes when opening jars. Sealed cans often have differing densities which will make opening one easier than another. If you truly mean a "can" of sauce, then I would not worry about it. But, if you meant a "jar", then I would throw it out! Try making your own sauce. A lot cheaper. A little bit of onion, some garlic, a can of crushed tomatoes...You pay 3 times as much for spaguetti sauce from a jar! And it takes almost as long to make your own as it does to dump it in a pot.
