im going to make an American flag cake w/ red white and blue icing (duh! lol) and w/ stars and all... because the cake is still soft and if you put icing on it the crumbs will just tear up from the soft cake and the icing will look like crap..lol...dang now u made me hungry for a cake :( Yes, otherwise the icing melts. YES If you don't want the icing to melt off, then definately wait for it to cool:) Yes...if it is warm at all the cake will peel off when you try to apply frosting and the heat will melt the frosting and it will look horrible. yes, the icing will melt you should or else the icing will melt Yes.
It might explode ! YES!! yea yes i would wait about an hour or so dont want to icing a cake that is hot yes...the cake can crumble, so to speak, and the icing will melt if you want the icing to melt put it on as soon as its out of the oven. but if u want it like it usuually is then wait about an hour depending on the size of the cake yes because if you don't the top of the cake will come of in crumbs and mix in with the icing. in the end the cake looks like crap. yes Yes. Wait until it is completely cooled off, otherwise the icing will just melt and run off or you'll tear the cake while icing it. maybe not fully but yo dont want the icing to melt definately a good recomendation to do so to put the icing on correctly ,with out running off Yes, or the icing will melt into a thin, runny glaze. UGH!
Please, just let it sit awhile, go do something else, then come back to it. ya or it will just mush into the cake be leave me i learned the hard way. Yes, otherwise your cake will look like a Salvador Dali painting (dripping clocks, for example) You don't have to wait for it to become completely cooled. Just wait until it becomes cold enough to NOT melt the icing. That is the reason you can't ice a cake right out of the oven, it'll melt the icing. well u don't 'have to' but yeah if you don't want it to run, can i have some cake when your done, it smells nice :P it's best to let it cool for to fiv minutes then ice. otherwise your icing may run / melt. if you are working with a layer sheet , you can use wax paper . bake with wax paper and then after five mins, cooled, slip the paper off , this will remove croombs. go ahead and ice. enjoy the cake. ! I would recommend letting it cool off completely. If you don't the icing will melt and your finished product will look terrible. Let it cool for about 20-30 minutes and then transfer it to a serving platter. Then you can put the icing on and enjoy your cake. I hope this helps. Yes, otherwise it melts into the cake. Although, my aunt used to make a white cake (from the box) and hot chocolate sauce, then pour it onto the hot layers -- yummy There is a difference between frosting and icing. Frosting is thick and whipped and therefore should be applied to a completely cooled cake. Icing, like glaze is many times drizzled on like you would see on a crunch cake or 7UP cake. In these cases the cake can still be a little warm :) YES!
Man I will never forget how I wasted my first cake by not waiting. You brought back some sad memories with that quesiton. Man that cake was so hard to make... and i ruined it... because i didn't wait for it to cool of before I put the icing on. That thing disintigrated.
