Brown a salted and peppered brisket and several halved garlic cloves in large heavy skillet, in olive oil. Make sure both sides of the meat are well-browned.
Meanwhile, blend one can of beer, one jar of chili sauce, and 1 cup of brown sugar in a separate bowl.
Place browned brisket in a roasting pan that has a lid (I use the same dutch oven pan that I make pot roast in).
Slice 2 onions and cover the brisket with the slices, along with the garlic cloves from the skillet.
Cover it all with the beer, chil sauce, and brown sugar mixture.
Place the cover on the pan and bake at 300 degrees for 2 hours, basting occasionally.
Remove cover and bake for another 30-60 minutes, depending on the size of the brisket. (continue to baste, but be careful the sauce does not evaporate)
Remove pan from oven and let sit for 15 minutes. Slice the meat thin, arrange the slices on a serving tray, and pour some of the sauce on top of the slices.
Reserve some of the sauce to pour over buttered noodles or rice.

My family loves it!! Instructions are generally on the label. you must cook brisket slowly because it is a tough cut of meat. grilling it would be best, on low heat so it will be tender.
i reccommed seasoning it with plenty of garlic and black pepper and grilling it on low heat for several hours. Brisket is best stewed or boiled. Long slow cooking as a rule. http://homecooking.about.com/library/arc...

If you are not up to smoking a full sized brisket, this slow grilled brisket recipe is a great alternative. Use a trimmed brisket since you will want as little fat as possible, so as to not cause flare-ups. Remember to baste frequently and keep your grill temperature low.
INGREDIENTS:
* 1 5 pound brisket
* 1 large onion chopped
* 1 cup water
* 7 ounce of beer
* 1 stick of butter
* 1/3 cup cider vinegar
* 6 cloves garlic minced
* 2 tablespoons garlic powder
* 2 tablespoons onion powder
* 2 tablespoons black pepper
* 2 tablespoons cayenne
* 2 tablespoons paprika
* 2 tablespoons brown sugar
* 1/2 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
* 1 teaspoon chili powder
* salt and pepper
PREPARATION:
Trim excess fat from Brisket and season with garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, cayenne and paprika. Place on rotisserie and put on preheated grill. Prop the lid a little and let cook. Meanwhile prepare sauce.
Melt butter in a sauce pan and sauté onion and garlic for about 5 minutes. Add water, cider vinegar, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, chili powder and a little salt and pepper to taste. Let simmer for 10-15 minutes. Add beer. Baste over brisket about every 30 minutes. Cook brisket on low for about 4-5 hours. Remove brisket from grill and slice thinly. Brisket can turn out to be very tough.. you need to use a rub on it and then let it marinate for several hours.. you can boil it if you want then season it and cook it slowly in the oven or on a grill.. on a grill you really want to smoke it.. check it out on line for the recipe for barbecuing a brisket.. there you will find out the best kind of rub to put on it and how long to marinate it.. and the correct low temperature.. you want to keep it jucy or it will wind up tougher than the bottom of your shoe.. good luck i cook mine in teh crock pot for 6 to 8 hours ti litterally falls apart. Kraftfoods.com has soem good recipes. So does foodgeeks.com I throw mine in the Crockpot on slow, add a little water to cover a half inch or so of the bottom, potatoes, carrots, celery, and any other veggies you'd like. Cook on low for about 6 hours. Also add salt pepper and garlic. Cook it over LOW heat for a long time, try allrecipies.com. I agree it is VERY tasty! :) I buy a 3.5lbs piece of brisket wrap it in foil put on a rack in a roasting pan and cook in a very slow oven for 6 or 7 hours. Use the juices to make your gravy.
