there are lots of things you can combine that are inexpensive! My daughter seems to live on ramen noodles and tuna. LOL. You;re gonna love this one. Beans and cornbread. We adore this at my house and it costs less than $3 to make enough for 2-3 meals. A little of the south in me I guess. LOL. beans and rice. prefer pintos, but others ok, too. Also pintos and cornbread. And there's always the PB&J. These combinations also provide decent protein. pasta, pasta sauce, and canned chickpeas... make it with whole wheat pasta and it's really healthy too! I like to use left over rice--chunk and fry some spam--add frozen mixed vegetables and rice and soy sauce--fry it--cheap and quick fried rice.
Also--fix a pack of ramen noodles--add a can of crushed tomatoes and some mixed vegetables (or left over veggies)--quick vegetable noodle soup. You can throw in leftover chicken or meat, too.
Also--make some toast--spread with peanut butter and eat with canned fruit. Yummy breakfast. Box mac and cheese with ketchup. noodles and butter. Peanut butter and jelly or fluff. Breads cheap, comes with a lot, and same with peanut butter and jelly. If you do fluff, you dont even need a fridge ;) haha super cheap! grilled cheese and tomato soup!! MMM good!! I also love Hot dogs and French fries! my trick I will make foods that can be turned into other meals like pasta sauce can be used for spaghetti on nite then pizza the next. Or I will use a little bit as a base in chilli and then throw in a bunch of different kinds of beans. (Thats if you use a meat sauce with ground beef)
Rice can be made with lots of differnt things.
Hot dogs. (Make chili dogs and then beans and franks another nite)
I try to make stuff stretch as much as possible.
I will buy those bags of chix breast and make 4 meals out of them like. Chix alfredo, chix soup, Chix caserole (chix, cream chix soup, egg noodles and broccoli)
Thats my secret. Try to make as many meals as you can out of the meat. Macaroni salad, made with shell macaroni, tuna, celery, onion, boiled eggs, and mayonnaise. Very filling, very cheap.
