Best recipe for hummus?

I absolutely love hummus and know the basic recipe but does anyone know any tips to make it even better or even an alternative type of dip that is as good.

to Yahoo sucks: irony or ignorance; I know what I think! Good lord, I love hummus. Try adding any one of the following or mix and match: roasted red bell peppers, Boursin cheese, cooked pureed eggplant, preserved lemon, cilantro, chevre, chipotle peppers, cumin, caramelized onions, caramelized shallots, candied garlic, truffle oil, and pretty much whatever else sounds good to you.

EDIT: This is for the person above me who thinks hummus is Mexican: you're a friggin' racist idiot. add a little chilli to make it spicier
Add more lemon juice to make it more sour
Use different varieties of chips EASY HUMMUS DIP

2 (15 1/2 oz.) cans chick peas (garbanzos), drained
1/4 c. fresh lemon juice
2 tbsp. oriental sesame oil
1/8 tsp. garlic powder
Pita bread, cut into eighths
Olive oil to cover

Puree all ingredients except bread in blender or processor. (Can be prepared one day ahead. Cover and refrigerate). Transfer to bowl. Drizzle olive oil over top and blend. Serve with pita bread.

Yummy!!!!!!!!!!!!!! coriander and lemon hummous is to DIE for, Garlic and or jalapeno. Roasted red peppers are a nice change to your basic hummus!
Just take 1 & 1/2 cups of your favorite hummus recipe and add this mixture...

1 (14 to 18 ounce) jar roasted red pepper, drained
2 tablespoons lemon juice
1 clove garlic, cracked from skin

Chopped parsley leaves, for garnish
1 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes, for garnish

Coarsely chop peppers and place them in a food processor with lemon juice and a clove of garlic. Pulse grind the peppers to get them going, then scrape in your usual hummus and process until dip is smooth and evenly red in color. Transfer dip to a bowl and garnish with parsley and crushed pepper flakes. Since I was introduced to it, I'm using hummus as a substitute for butter and other spreads. More fiber, fewer calories, and so on.

Try adding a bit of fat-free cream cheese and some fruit! It will knock your socks off!

I have experimented with different types of oil. Using really GOOD olive oil, some flavored (garlic) oil, and something I found called "Mongolian Fire Oil" (yes, it's edible and not for lamps).

All of which make for a very nice hummus with some different flavor.

The one thing I have yet to try is to cook my own garbanzos! Odd, but that would seem to be the logical step, wouldn't it? Perhaps in some nice chicken stock or with a bit of onion?

Who knows where this could go!

Best wishes! Great question, think il try and make some of my own, rather than buy it from Tesco.

Mr "I don't eat mexican $hit" ... go read http://www.sabra.com/hummus.html... .... mexico is in the middle east? How about garlic hummus? Stir in chopped roasted peppers or any other chopped roasted veggie. Sun Dried tomato is a great stir in as well. I make my own by mashing up a can of chickpeas with some tahini, garlic olive oil and lemon juice. I just keep adding more garlic and lemon juice until I get the flavour and texture that I want.
Sometimes I make it with a can of mixed pulses instead of chickpeas for a different taste.
