Anyone have a really good Yorkshire pudding recipe?!
Anyone have a really good Yorkshire pudding recipe?
I live in Canada with my British husband and he really misses Yorkshire puds. I'd love an authentic, tried, tested and true recipe to make him miss England a little less. Thanks.
Answers: Ok this recipe has NEVER failed and works a treat every time, am a Brit living in South Africa so can understand your hubbies symtoms.
Take 6 heaped table spoons of any flour Except self raising flour, take 3 large eggs pinch of salt a small glug of sunflower oil and enough milk to make a batter that resembles slightly thickened cream. Mix all of the ingredients together and let it sit for about half an hour, longer is better. Take a muffin pan and put a good glug of oil into each pot and make sure you oil the sides, put this into the top part of a hot oven and make sure the oil is smoking, slide the muffin pan and fill each pot with about and inch and a half to two inches of the batter, the oil should sizzle... thats good, fill all of the pots and put it back into the oven, allow approximately 20 to 30 mins for your yorkies, if you can see inside you oven without opening the door, watch your yokies grow and grow and grow, nothing like that..... so satifying....... good luck.
To reiterate the secret of good yorkshire puddings, use any flour EXCEPT self raising and make sure the tray into which you are going to put your batter is smoking hot..... I have used this recipe all over south africa and to date it hasnt failed once. Ingredients
vegetable oil
290ml/? pint milk
4 eggs, beaten
255g/9oz plain flour, sifted
salt and freshly ground black pepper
Method
1. Preheat the oven to 220C/425F/Gas 7.
2. Grease a Yorkshire pudding tin with a little vegetable oil. Place the tin in the oven to preheat.
3. Place the milk, eggs and seasoning in a bowl. Stir well to combine.
4. Whisk in the flour.
5. Remove the tin from the oven. Pour in the batter, filling each case only three quarters full.
6. Place the tin in the oven and bake for 10 minutes, or until puffy and raised.
7. Remove the puddings from the oven and serve. http://www.recipezaar.com/10782...
