Answers: Saute chopped cabbage in vegtable oil until tender. Can add chopped onion, too. Add salt and pepper to taste. Allow to cool slightly and add two beaten eggs, stir well and pour into casserole dish or pastry lined pie plate. Bake at 350 until egg is set and top is a little brown. Good hot or cold. Source(s):
My grandfather always made it like a pie, but the casserole is just as good and no pie crust to make. My husband makes this dish that I love. Its called Sarma Soup. You take a head of cabbage, saurkraut, hamburger meat and tomato sauce and mix all of it in a pan. Cook this until everything is done. It is scrumptious!! i saute cabbage in a little olive oil and season with a little sea salt and fresh ground black pepper. it is really yummy this way!! Sure.
Shred it and salt it heavily. Add more shredded cabbage, and a another layer of salt. Continue until you've filled a five-gallon plastic pail 2/3 full, then top with a dinner plate that just barely fits inside the bucket, and weight the dinner plate down with bricks - or even a plastic bag filled with brine. In a few weeks, you have sauerkraut - and it's a LOT better than any you can buy.
Or shred it (possibly along with a few shredded carrots), and top it with dressing to make cole slaw. This much dressing will cover 4 cups of shredded cabbage:
1/2 c. mayonnaise
2 tbsp. vinegar or lemon juice
1 tbsp. grated onion
1/2 tsp. celery seed
1 tsp. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. pepper
Or toss some cabbage into your favorite vegetable soup. i need some recipes too. my grandma cant cook it good. i end up closing my nose before i eat mine. This is a Vietnamese salad eaten w/ rice soup. First boil a chicken breast w/ salt n pepper. Shred it to small pieces not too fine. Shred cabbage and wash it in salt water and drain it and squeeze out the juice w/ your hands. Chop mint leaves and coriander leaves, and some spring onions. Add to the cabbage and add chicken to it. In another bowl mix some vinegar, some sugar, salt, pepper and little bit of finely sliced onion. Pour the vinegar mixture into the cabbage before serving and toss it. Fish sauce and julianne red pepper can be added just for flavor. I like mine fried...fry some bacon crisp and set aside, cut up your cabbage into medium to small pieces...add to hot oil and cover let fry then check and turn it over...cook until it is browned and done....remove and crumble the Crissy bacon over the top and toss....also I like Scalloped Cabbage...there are lots of recipes on line that you could use it is pretty basic and little work... There is a cabbage-stuffed bread called Runza, which is popular in the midwest. There are even restaurants that sell them exclusively. They are delicious. They are a labor of love, which is why I make them only occasionally, but are worth it. You can get the recipe online. Just type in "Runza's". This is great , take a head of cabbage and core it , chop it up into chucks . throw it in a frying pan with some texas 1015 onions or vadelli onions ( however you want to cut them up ). add about 2 or 3 tablespoons of butter , salt and pepper to taste , then add 1 table spoon of green tabasco sauce ( has to be the green tabasco ) and cook until it's soft . you can add more tabasco to taste . Very taste and surprisingly not very spice .
