all the one's ive found don't look nice. butter bean's never heard of that in coleslaw?? have you... Honey, the quickest, easiest way to make cole slaw is get the cole slaw mix from the produce dept of your grocery store and add bottled cole slaw dressing. If you want to dress it up a little, you can shred some Delicious apple into the mix. Just find a recipe and leave out the onion Just use one you like the look of and omit the onion. We don't put onion in ours. Just leave out the onion. Real coleslaw is cabbage, oil and vinegar. i guess so I might be being silly but i thought coleslaw was made with cabbage and carrots. Not onions. Use any recipe you like just leave out the onion and add a little onion powder (1/2 tsp) for flavoring. white cabbage and carrot and then mayonaise

1 cabbage to 2 carrots Try
Cabbage
Fennel
Carrot
All finely sliced
Squeeze of lemon / garlic (optional)
in a Creme frais or Mayo dressing
Yum Well, if you want an out of the ordinary cole slaw, try this recipe that I saw on the food network:

Cole Slaw:
3/4 cup mayonnaise
1/4 cup Dijon mustard
1/4 cup packed light brown sugar
3 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
2 tablespoons buttermilk
4 teaspoons celery seeds
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1/8 teaspoon cayenne
3 cups shredded green cabbage (about 1/2 head cabbage)
3 cups shredded red cabbage (about 1/2 head cabbage)
1 green bell pepper, finely diced
1 large carrot, peeled and shredded
1/2 cup grated yellow onion
1/4 cup minced fresh parsley

In a bowl, combine the mayonnaise, mustard, sugar, vinegar, buttermilk, celery seeds, salt, pepper, and cayenne, and whisk well to dissolve the sugar.
In a large bowl, combine the remaining ingredients. Toss with the dressing until evenly coated. Adjust seasoning, to taste. Place in the refrigerator, covered, to chill slightly before serving.

Yield: 8 servings

ENJOY! if you dont fancy onion try putting chives or shredded leek in instead Just make it without the onion.

BUT the greatest coleslaw recipe is found on topsecretrecipes.com they have the KFC recipe, man, if is fantastic!!! It calls for onions but as I said simply leave the onion out. That's an easy call. Go with the normal stuff- shredded carrot and white/red cabbage. could add some chopped boiled potatoes but then that works perfectly on its own as a potato salad. Add to that salad cream or mayo with added flavours. I would go for chives if using mayo but then you say you don't like onions and chives come from the same family.

Good luck anyway. Just leave out the onion - cabbage, carrot, drizzle of olive oil, small teaspoon of sugar, dessert spoon of vinegar and then add mayonnaise until the correct consistency is required - for luxury add a little single cream. just find a recipe girl Basically coleshaw is shredded cabbage and miracle whip. It can be made with and of the harder veggie if you shred them. carrots thing like that . Everyone does - you pick any recipe an cross out anywhere you see the words "raw onion".

Easy as :o) you certainly dont need onion in coleslaw. Principally cabbage and carrot for the crunch mayonnaise and lemon or vinegar for the acidity, hundreds of recipes on the web for it.

if you like spicy but not the onions you could use a little horseradish or wasabi yes, this is a classic french recipe i have pumped up a bit...

1 head finely shredded cabbage
8 finely shredded carrots
2 finely shredded bell peppers

Sauce
1 egg yolk
i cup canola oil
1/2 cup apple wine vinegar
3/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup adobo seasoning
a handful of celery seed

put everything but the oil into a blender...
mix on high for 1 minute and then while still on high drizzle in the oil slowly till it gets thick and creamy...
while mixing add fresh ground horseradish to taste!!!
this is the secret ingredient!!! try something different, instead of a white onion use a red onion they're not as strong and they add colour I must admit I don't like onion in coleslaw so I use a stick of celery cut lengthways about the same as the white cabage.
this gives it a nice crunch and flavor.

Barry one bag of coleslaw mix(400 gram). 3tbs. Sugar - 3tbs. Vinegar - 4tbs. Mayo - Half tsp. salt. Mix well works best in a big ziploc bag let it sit in the juice a bit before eating enjoy-I know I do. Hi, here's my favorite: I use this dressing for nearly everything, sandwiches, pasta salads, coleslaw, dips - well, you get the idea.

1 cup Vegenaise (look for it in the cold case of your favorite health food store or food co op. It is vegan and very similar to mayonaise - I think it's better. It is not at Whole Foods or Trader Joe's.)
1/4 cup (or more if you want) Grey Poupon Country Dijon Mustard
2 cloves, fresh pressed garlic
mix, store in frige

If it is a little too 'mayo' tasting add more mustard, you can even put in a couple teaspoons of lemon juice to make it more tart, if you prefer.

Chop your cabbage, shred some carrots, add your dressing - then try to stay out of it until time to eat. It's always fun to get 'adventurous' with simple recipes. For fun, add something bright like chopped red bell pepper, green peas, some chopped celery. No hard and fast rules to follow. i make this one.

INGREDIENTS
2 cups mayonnaise
1 cup buttermilk
3 tablespoons white sugar
1 teaspoon celery seed
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
2 (16 ounce) packages shredded coleslaw mix

DIRECTIONS
In a large bowl, stir together the mayonnaise, buttermilk, sugar, celery seed and black pepper. Fold in the coleslaw mix, and refrigerate until serving. This tastes best if it is refrigerated for a few hours before serving. No help here can't stand coleslaws full stop.
Not describe what they look and smell like to me!!!!!! coleslaw
A bowl of Coleslaw (or cole slaw) is a salad consisting primarily and minimally of shredded, raw, white cabbage, although it often also includes shredded carrots.

There are many variations of the recipe which include the addition of other ingredients, such as red cabbage, pineapple, or apple.

It is usually mixed with a dressing which traditionally consists of or is based on vegetable oil and vinegar or a vinaigrette.

Most modern coleslaw contains mayonnaise or its substitutes, although many regional variations exist, and recipes incorporating prepared mustard.

A variety of seasonings may be added. The dressing is allowed to settle on the blended ingredients usually for several hours before being served.

The cabbage may come in finely-minced pieces, shredded strips, or small squares.

Coleslaw is generally used as a side dish eaten with foods such as barbecue, fish and chips, and other fried foods, notably fried catfish in the southern U.S.

Also in this region, it is common as a sandwich ingredient, often placed on barbecue sandwiches, and on hamburgers and hot dogs along with chili and hot mustard.

It is sometimes used as an ingredient in the Reuben sandwich. A variant with vinegar and oil is almost always served with pizza in Sweden. I've never heard of coleslaw that included onion. If your recipe calls for it, just leave it out.
