Do you know a good recipe for fried rice or pepper steak?!

Do you know a good recipe for fried rice or pepper steak?

I would prefer answers with a recipe you have TASTED... I love Jade Dragon's plain fried rice and pepper steak... I just can't find a recipe close enough that tastes great... I moved and there is no Jade Dragon anywhere near here.... :(

Oh by the way I just got finished making a recipe I found at foodnetwork.com... for the fried rice it called for that oyster sauce.... omg I have never wanted to throw up so bad in my life..... if your recipe calls for oyster sauce please just don't answer... ugh

Fried Rice Restaurant Style

INGREDIENTS
2 cups enriched white rice
4 cups water
2/3 cup chopped baby carrots
1/2 cup frozen green peas
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
2 eggs
soy sauce to taste
sesame oil, to taste (optional)

DIRECTIONS
In a saucepan, combine rice and water. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 20 minutes.
In a small saucepan, boil carrots in water about 3 to 5 minutes. Drop peas into boiling water, and drain.
Heat wok over high heat. Pour in oil, then stir in carrots and peas; cook about 30 seconds. Crack in eggs, stirring quickly to scramble eggs with vegetables. Stir in cooked rice. Shake in soy sauce, and toss rice to coat. Drizzle with sesame oil, and toss again.

This is a good recipe for families that have good taste but can't afford really expensive steaks.

Poor Man's Pepper Steak

INGREDIENTS
1 pound cube steak
salt and pepper to taste
all-purpose flour for dredging
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 medium onion, sliced
1 clove garlic, minced
1 green bell pepper, sliced
2 cups water

DIRECTIONS
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
Season the steak with salt and pepper to taste. Dredge in the flour and shake off the excess. Heat the oil in a frying pan over medium-high heat. Brown the steaks in the oil, then transfer to a large, shallow casserole dish. Sprinkle the garlic, onion, and green pepper over top, pour in water, and wrap with aluminum foil.
Bake in preheated oven until steak is tender and vegetables are soft, about 1 1/2 hours. 1 - 2 green onions, as desired
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon salt
Pepper to taste
4 tablespoons oil for stir-frying, or as needed
4 cups cold cooked rice
1 - 2 tablespoons light soy sauce or oyster sauce, as desired.

Wash and finely chop the green onion. Lightly beat the eggs with the salt and pepper.

Heat a wok or frying pan and add 2 tablespoons oil. When the oil is hot, add the eggs. Cook, stirring, until they are lightly scrambled but not too dry. Remove the eggs and clean out the pan.

Add 2 tablespoons oil. Add the rice. Stir-fry for a few minutes, using chopsticks or a wooden spoon to break it apart. Stir in the soy sauce or oyster sauce as desired.

When the rice is heated through, add the scrambled egg back into the pan. Mix thoroughly. Stir in the green onion. Serve hot. hello, now we start

1- 1/2 pounds round steak cut into strips or cubes
? cup flour, may need a little more
? teaspoon salt
oil for browning beef
1 can of tomatoes (29 ounces), break up in blender or food processor
1- 3/4 cup water
2 beef bullion cubes
l onion, chopped
3 garlic cloves, minced
1-1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
green peppers
Hot noodles or rice

Cut beef into cubes or strips. Mix flour and salt. Coat beef in flour mixture; brown in oil; drain on a paper-towel lined plate. Drain the liquid from tomatoes; break the tomatoes up in food processor. Add liquid from tomatoes to water to make l -3/4 cups liquid. Heat water so you can dissolve the beef bullion cubes. Combine beef, tomatoes, water, onion, and garlic. Cover and bake at 325 for 2 hours. Remove from oven and add Worcestershire sauce. Can be thickened with flour and water if needed. Add peppers and serve over rice or noodles.


YIELDS: 6 servings i have made both for huge weddings

fried rice:
steam off the rice
add 1/2 as much sauteed mixed frozen veggies and some julienne scrambled eggs cooked in sesame oil on high heat. add the rice when the eggs are done, and toss in the rice with dark soy. add a pinch of chinese 5 spice and some fresh ground ginger.


pepper steak is more difficult.. cut raw flank steak across the grain 1/4 inch thick and pound the strips with a meat mallet.
dredge these in corn starch and stirfry on high heat with julienne pepper strips and 1/2 as much julienne onion strips in peanut oil in a wok. after 3 minutes add some bean paste
a tblspoon of minced ginger, and some dark soy sauce...adjust the flavor with sherry and brown sugar.

add sherry slowly as you toss...do not overcook. a little brown sugar goes a long way. you must taste as you go.

it will thicken and be beautiful unless you are an imbecile! PEPPER STEAK STIR FRY

1 1/2 inch thick beef steak, any kind (16-24 oz)
2-3 bell peppers, any color
2 large yellow onions, thinly sliced
1/2 hot pepper (depending upon heat desired)
2-3 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
1 tablespoon butter
4-5 cloves garlic
1/2 lb mushrooms, thinly sliced
1 tablespoon Wondra (or other flour)
3 tablespoons red wine
1 bouillon cube or teaspoon of beef flavored soup base (optional)
salt or soy sauce (if desired)
pinch of red pepper flakes, to taste

Slice uncooked steak into thin slices across the grain.
Tip: Place steak in freezer until partially frozen but the tip of a sharp knife can still pierce it 3/8" deep. This makes it easier to slice.

Prepare vegetables: Core and slice peppers, peel onions and thinly slice, peel garlic. Clean mushrooms and slice.

In a skillet, melt butter in oil. Add onions and saute over medium high heat until edges take on light brown color. Add whole garlic cloves and sliced peppers. When garlic cloves have a slightly roasted appearance, mash the garlic into the oil using the tines of a fork. Remove sauteed vegetables to a dish using a slotted spoon when tender, and lightly browned on edges but not soft.

Turn heat to high and brown steak; add mushrooms after several minutes. Remove steak to vegetable dish when tender. Add wine, flour, and bouillon, scraping pan to add flavor and color to gravy. Reduce heat to very low and simmer gravy ten minutes. Add a few tablespoons of water or broth if gravy is too thick; add more flour if gravy is too thin after several minutes. Add vegetables and steak to gravy and heat through. Season to taste with salt (or soy sauce), pepper and hot pepper, to taste.

Serve as is, or over rice or chow mein noodles, or in sub sandwiches topped with caramelized onions. Season with soy sauce, if desired.

Variation: Prepare using pork loin instead of beef steak; substitute Nappa cabbage for peppers. Add finely minced fresh ginger, if desired.
