hope these give you an idea of something to fix. Rice a Roni, Corn on the Cob, any kind of pasta salads, roasted veggies. make a nice big salad with tomato and cucumber in it or fruit salad or pasta salad. roasted red potatoes, smashed potatoes with olive oil and butter , home made cole slaw, baked sweet potatoes, roasted aspargus, corn on the cob...... potatoes, made in any fashion
sometimes mac n cheese for chicken
oh, and rice works 2 oven roasted or BBQ asparagus....simply trim the asparagus, sprinkle with S/P and drizzle on some good olive oil...cook to just tender...turning often if you do them on the grill..rice is always a standard give it a twist by cutting up some celery onion and carrot (small) and sauteing in a bit of butter and olive oil, add the rice stir for a few minutes to "toast" the rice a bit and then add the water and cook as directed on the box. good luck have fun and never be afraid to fail in the kitchen some of my best recipes came from making mistakes and learning from them Make baked potatoes and corn on the cobb. Also have a salad to go with it. Then make a cheesecake for dessert. http://allrecipes.com/recipe/alabi-potat... try this potato salad. if that doesnt tickle your fancy just check out the rest of the site. It has delicious and easy recipes of anything you can think of. And a whole section of side dishes. Good luck! Grilled or steamed asparagus with butter or hollandaise sauce is my favorite. Baked potatoes are a crowd pleaser along with grilled or steamed corn on the cob.Try "dressing" up a couple of cans of Bush's baked beans by adding maple syrup or a dash of molasses and chopped onions and bacon and bake for 30 minutes. Also veggie "kabobs" are fun and easy. Just cut up yellow squash and bell peppers into bite sized pieces, thread these along with whole mushrooms and cherry tomatoes on wooden skewers, sprinkle with salt and pepper and brush with olive oil. Place on grill and turn often! homemade scalloped potatoes
brined baked potatoes coated with olive oil, old bay, garlic and kosher salts
homemade green bean casserole is always a hit THIS IS NOT what you're thinking
For green bean casserole:
melt half a stick of butter and saute 1 cup chopped onions
add 3 cups fresh chopped mushrooms cook until golden
stir in 1 can cream of mush and 1 cup heavy cream
add 1 cup white chedder cheese
salt an pepper
add about 3 -4 cups fresh or frozen whole green beans (the frozen organic from Costco are good)
transfer to buttered casserole dish
bake at 375 until bubbly
Top with fried onion rings continue cooking until rings have browned and crisped Don't worry, you'll be fine and they'll love it!

Corn on the cob is always a hit when I have guests. It's easy and everyone loves it. I don't like it grilled, maybe I'm weird, but it gets a little too dry for my taste (or we're not doing it right, lol). I just boil it in a big pot of water with a tablespoon of sugar to bring out the sweetness of the corn. You could have a couple of trays (or pie tins) of melted butter so everyone can roll their ears of corn into it, and have salt, pepper, chili powder, lemon pepper, etc. all out so they can season it as they see fit.
