I need a basic cake recipe. Everytime I try to bake a cake from scratch, it tastes like raw flour? Any ideas?!

Answers: A couple of hints for you: Make sure you follow the recipe exactly (using measuring cups, etc.); always use softened butter and not melted butter or margarine (you can soften butter by leaving it at room temperature for about an hour).
Try this...
1 cup butter, softened
1 2/3 cups white sugar
2 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
3 cups sifted cake flour
2 1/4 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 1/3 cups milk
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour 2 - 9 inch round cake pans.
In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla. Sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Beat in the flour mixture alternately with the milk, mixing just until incorporated. Pour batter into prepared pans.
Bake in preheated oven for 40to 45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. Let cool in pan for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack and cool completely. MOIST YELLOW CAKE
