How long should u grill a Shoulder London Broil?
its weighs like 1 1/2 lbs. not to sure on how long to leave it on the grill for.
Answers: If you don't have an instant meat thermometer (which works great, believe me), then grill it for about 10 minutes per inch of meat. I usually keep it on one side until the juice starts pooling on the raw side, then flip if for about half the time it's already been on. For a roast the size you're describing, it shouldn't take more than 15-20 minutes total. Remember, avoid overcooking. The meat will continue to cook another five degrees after you take it off the heat and let it rest for 5-10 minutes. Try a marinade too, london broil works great with a marinade (I'd recommend McCormick's meat marinade). In the words of the great Julia Child....cook it until it is done!
Just kidding, depending on how you like your meat cooked and how hot the fire is and how thick the London Broil is cut.....about 5-7 minutes a side for med rare. Not to be a smarty, but you grill it until it is medium rare, which you determine by making test cust to inspect the color OR -if you're really good at this- you poke it somewhere near the middle with your finger and observe (and feel) what the meat does. If you are able to depress it fairly easily -make a little dimple- and it bounces back when you remove your finger -its ready. But if it has become kind of hard and unresponsive -it is WELL. If the dimple just stays there -you are about at raw.
In general, a London Broil is to be grilled S L O W L Y. Put the charcoal (small amount) on one end of the grill, the LB at the other and close the lid. For an LB the same weight as yours, it took me about 3 hrs to get it to medium rare that way and my oh my was it tender and tasty.
Think I'll do another! Preheat your grill to between 350 to 375 (use indirect heat )
20 min per side remove from heat and let it rest for at least 10 min. Slice thinly and enjoy
