Homemade hazelnut pesto?!

Question:

Homemade hazelnut pesto?

Can you substitute another nut for the hazelnuts?

Answers:

Sure you can!!! You can even sub out the basil for say, cilantro for a Hispanic spin on your pesto, you can use a combination of parsley and basil if you want to tone down the basil, I even have a lady friend that makes a sun dried tomato pesto, I know that's more off the wall than most, but it's quite delicious with linguine and shrimp.......and as far as the nuts, you can use whatever you want!!! Pine nuts (pignoles) and walnuts are used most often, but I've even used cashews in my pesto (basil) and it turned out very rich and thick and delicious......Experiment, that how some of the worlds best recipes have turned out: case in point, who ever thought that mixing Catalina Salad Dressing, a can of Cranberry Sauce and a packet of dry Onion Soup Mix can make the most wonderful chicken or pork in the world!!! Interested in the recipe, email me from my profile page.....Enjoy!!!
