Is tossing frozen food (especially meat) OK?!

Question:

Is tossing frozen food (especially meat) OK?

I am getting a crock pot to cook up all this venison and pheasent in the freezer...and wonder if its OK to put some ingrediants in there frozen (like the meat, or vegetables) or should a feller thaw them in the fridge first? I'm kind of lazy like that, thanks for the help...

Answers:

you can put frozen food in the crock pot - usually the cooking time is long enough to heat the food enough. cutting meat into smaller pieces (the size of your hand is fine) will help, as will adding about 1/2 to 1 cup of liquid.

one idea to try is to assemble your crock pot meal the night before - veggies, meat, seasonings, and liquid, in that order - and put it in the fridge overnight. this will give the meat some time to thaw, then you can pop the crock into its base in the morning, turn it on, and come home to something yummy for dinner.

good luck!
