Should I precook frozen carrots before putting them into a crock pot soup?!

Question:

Should I precook frozen carrots before putting them into a crock pot soup?

I am cooking a crock pot soup in the morning that I usually use fresh carrots in. Since I am out I am going to use some frozen one- should I thaw them in the fridge overnight, just precook them in the morning, or throw them in the soup frozen?

It's no problem to precook them since it only takes a minute but I was just wondering if I could throw them in frozen since they will be cooking all day.

Thanks for your help!

Answers:

No, there is no need to thaw them. Frozen veggies are bad in dishes that are being cooked fast ie. sauteing or grilling because they cause the temperature of a hot pan to decrease quickly but a crockpot is slow cooking so it will have plenty of time for the temp to rebound. Thawing them beforehand could actually cause excess water and residue.
