How can you reduce the amount of smoke created by cooking on a stovetop?
Whenever chicken is cooked in my apartment on our stove, there is so much smoke that my eyes burn and the apartment is filled for hours even with the windows and sometimes door open. Is there a way to stop this? My eyes can't take it anymore.
Answers:
This should not happen. Even with a vent fan, you shouldn't be generating this much smoke.
One of two things is going on: Your temperature is WAAAYY too high., and it's smoking.
Or, you have a lot of residue on your stove and/or cooking pan that is burning off.
Either is easy to correct.
You should be able to roast a whole chicken and not have any serious smoke of any kind. If you are frying, you might be at too high temps there too. You should not be filling up the apartment with smoke. Either turn the temps down, or clean the stove, or clean the cooking utensil (or replace it).
Good luck!
