I've never deep fried anything...how does it work?!

Question:

I've never deep fried anything...how does it work?

I'm not even sure if I have a correct pot to deep fry. All I have is a pot I boil pasta in. I want to fry chicken wings for buaffalo wings. What kind of oil do you use, what temp, and what kind of oil? and most importantly, is it dangerous? and what do you do with the leftover oil Thanks so much.

Answers:

Any pot will do as long as its large enough to hold the quantity of food you want to cook. I use to deep fry in a wok.
Your pasta saucepan is fine. fill it half to two thirs with vegetable oil. Either a blended oil or sunflower oil or rapeseed oil will be fine.
Heat the oil until it is very hot but not smoking. Put in a chicken wing or cube of bread and if it starts bubbling and cooking stright away you know the temperature is fine and you can cook the rest. If not much happens heat the oil a bit more.
After cooking let the oil cool down then pour it back in the plastic bottle. You will be able to use again for deep frying or for stirfrying
