How do you cook fresh corn on the cob?!

Question:

How do you cook fresh corn on the cob?

I have always bought frozen corn on the cob. And all I had to do was put it in a pot of cold water and put it on high until it came to a boil, cover and reduce heat. Cook for 4-6 minutes.
The one time I did buy fresh corn I made it on the grill, but I don't have time for the grill tonight. What is the best way to cook the corn on the cob on the stove? Thanks for your help.

Don't laugh, but what does shuck it mean? I am a better baker than I am a cook, so cut me some slack! :)

Answers:

shuck it, put it in a pot of generously salted boiling water for about 8 minutes without reducing the heat. You want to keep it at a pretty rolling boil. Should be good to go.

I leave the cover off the pot. That way it doesn't boil over as easily.
