Help please with making shortbread?!

Question:

Help please with making shortbread?

I am making shortbread and I momentarily got distracted and used the rubbing in method with flour and butter and then added the sugar! I know this is wrong as this is how you make short pastry. How can I rescue it to make shortbread??? Should I add milk to bind or an egg? It has a breadcrumb consistency at the moment!!

Answers:

Ok - No egg - no milk. If It's crumbly it should be ok. You could use an electric beater to make it more crumbly. But it should be like that if you're making proper shortbread.

Then knead it and roll it into shape.

I have a recipe given to my mum by a lady in Scottland about 60 years ago so email me if you'd like it.

Good luck. It should still turn out fine:)
