How can I make a boxed cornbread mix come out more dense, moist, and chewy?!

Question:

How can I make a boxed cornbread mix come out more dense, moist, and chewy?

If I make the cornbread per the box directions it will get very crumbly and fluffy. I'm looking for the oposite texture. How can I preportion my egg, oil (or butter), and milk to make the cornbread more moist and chewy?

Answers:

I don't like crumbly cakey cornbread either.

Try this:

Add one small container of sour cream and one small can of creamed corn to the mix. Also, melt the btter instead of using room temp butter. I usually add 1 TBS of sugar as well.

If you can't find the little half can sizes of corn, just use half of a big can.

This will give you seriously moist and dense cornbread.
