How full do I fill a springform pan if making a chocolate cake?!

Question:

How full do I fill a springform pan if making a chocolate cake?

I'm making a tiered, three layered cake and want the cake to cook evenly throughout. I know if I fill it too full, the center will take too long to bake. I have parchment paper so the batter doesn't leak out. How many inches of batter should I put into the pan? My pan sizes are 10.5", 9", and 8". Thanks.

Answers:

Fill it no more than two-thirds of the depth of the pan and you should be fine. I personally wouldn't use a springform for this but if it's all you've got... Err on the side of conservatism: less rather than more.

Good luck!
